    Description

    The Data Administration Platforms team within CME Group Data Services maintains product ownership of the CME Data Services Platform, which facilitates the onboarding, licensing, and billing of all CME Group data customers, including, but not limited to subscribers of CME DataMine, CME Direct, CME Market Data Platform (MDP 3.0), and CME’s Cloud-based Data Distribution Channels. Our broader team is revenue-focused, and responsible for establishing new market data licensing policies, adjustments to fees, as well as maintaining our core information licensing agreements, while supporting our global data sales and data account management support staff and data product owners/stakeholders, across a wide variety of data products (CME Group Futures and Options, Benchmarks and Indices, Derived/Cash Markets, and Third Party).

    This internship role will provide broad exposure to core technology supporting a dynamic set of data products and services from CME Group. The ideal candidate is an outgoing, self-starter, who is comfortable working independently on multiple data-focused business intelligence projects in parallel, chipping in where needed with documentation and technical solutions.

    Responsibilities:

    • Analyzes data customer trends using statistics and python to provide recommendations on how to help improve our business
    • Collaborates with business to refine projects goals and help solve real business challenges
    • Collaborates with technology for data access and data interpretation
    • Works in team environment to develop data visualizations and reports that can be deployed, operationalized and used by the business
    • Designs and implements creative approaches to identifying competitive insights and interest in learning new cutting edge technology

    Internship Qualifications:

    • Experience with any/all: Python, SQL, R, Google Cloud, BigQuery, Looker, Tableau
    • Basic understanding of Cloud-based data management/distribution technology and concepts
    • Maintains a working knowledge of data mining and visualization best practices
    • Ability to develop processes that gain and present insights from data
    • Strong desire to learn about the CME Group Data Business

    Education:

    • Currently pursuing a BA/BS or Masters/Advanced Degree.
    • Preferred majors: Math, Statistic, Finance, Analytics or related fields 3.0 Minimum GPA required

    Physical, Scheduling, & Location Requirements:

    New York City based position (300 Vesey Office). Flexible schedule, but we are looking for a 20 hour per week commitment (at least 2 days in the office per week). Year-round internship available for the right candidate.

Actual salary offered will be dependent on a wide array of factors including but not limited to: relevant experience, skills, education and comparison to internal employees (where relevant).
