JOB DESCRIPTION:
DATA SPECIALIST
Role:
Responsible for coordinating the successful delivery of sophisticated Data initiatives involving significant internal and/or external resources within the data office of SVB Private LOB. Provide requirements to develop data interfaces and reports as the need arises for the strategic programs for growing the business. This role supports small data initiatives in which this role will be primary or part of a larger programs with other team members.
Key Responsibilities:
Partners in the development and implementation of detailed project and work plans for efforts within the data organization aligning with the data office of supporting the Private Bank Wealth Management line of business and build out of data products.
Develops documentation to support the requirements including data mapping specs
Consults with and guides business owners to document, implement and maintain the metadata and business rules for the bank's data.
Analyzes the data within the bank, identifies issues and makes recommendations to ensure alignment to consistent definitions, business naming standards, development of standard calculations, security requirements, etc.
Develops and carries out methods and validation mechanisms for ensuring data quality and accuracy through the data platforms at the bank.
Entrusted with improving, and maintaining a high level of, data quality.
Develops metrics and reporting requirements for ongoing monitoring of the bank's data. Identifies any issuers or anomalies in the quality of data within the bank's systems.
Prioritizes the resolution of data quality related issues; counsels’ business and technology representatives to have them resolved.
Have the ability to define templates for artifacts which would be delivered as part of the DG function and interact with partners from the lines of business
Support project planning, management, and requirements to ensure best practices are followed with regards to data governance
Definition and implementation of Data Quality Controls
Makes recommendations to ensure adherence to consistent definitions, business naming standards, development of standard calculations, security requirements, etc.
Prioritization of Data Quality issues for remediation
Knowledge of industry leading data quality and data protection management practices
Knowledge of data governance practices, business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets and approaches related to data protection
Knowledge of data related government regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills coupled with thoroughness and attention to detail is desired.
SQL query skills for independent data analysis
Excellent communication skills
Ability to work with people across multiple work-streams.
Must be able to work independently and proactively to take initiative to solve problem quickly
Proven critical thinking: Capacity to learn and independent thinking
Action oriented change agent mentality with a strong drive for results.
Passion and skills in establishing Data Governance across the Enterprise
Key Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree Required (Information Management Systems, Finance)
5-10 years of experience in financial industry especially supporting private banking and/or wealth management data products.
Proven experience in implementing Data Governance and/or Data Quality
Experience with regulated systems in the financial industry a plus.

Hands on experience with Data Governance tools like Collibra
Experience in Fiserv's Signature , iVue data model & data structures is a must have
Experience in APX data model & data structures would be a plus
BASE PAY:
$67,238.00 - $126,072.00
Actual starting base pay will be determined on skills, experience, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. Total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other perks, as outlined in any formal offer made.
