    JOB DESCRIPTION

    The Director of Business Operations ensures the Corporate Aviation function maintains strong enterprise relationships while delivering on its mission, with focus on internal customer support, compliance, risk management, data sourcing, and reporting. This role oversees flight dispatch and trip planning in alignment with Corporate Aircraft Use Policy, manages compliance with company policies and third-party risk requirements, and leads data strategy and business reporting efforts. The Director, also, drives change and project management initiatives and supports the Vice President of Aviation in maintaining alignment with SEC and IRS regulations.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Operations

    • Ensure flight dispatch and trip planning processes are designed and conducted in accordance with the flight operations manual and American Express Management Policies.
    • Evaluate flight request information to ensure compliance with the Corporate Aircraft Use Policy and provide information to facilitate trip approvals.
    • Provide monthly, quarterly, and annual performance metrics information to Aviation Leadership with the identification of performance gaps.

    Business Management

    • Organize and maintain the data strategy used to make sound business decisions.
    • Organize business plan recommendations, including appropriate alternatives, based on inputs from Aviation Leaders and the Accountable Executive.
    • Oversee business process design and optimization for the Aviation organization, in alignment with the enterprise risk and compliance framework.
    • Partner with functional group leaders to address broad planning needs.
    • Leverage understanding of the enterprise business functions to maintain administrative and organizational alignment.
    • Maintain a secure and accessible Aviation document library.
    • Lead change management practices, including assignment of related responsibilities.
    • Organize project management initiatives, including the deployment of quantitative and qualitative tools

    Risk and Compliance

    • Build and maintain exceptional working relationships with American Express internal business partners.
    • Maintain third party relationships, sourcing strategy, risk management, and contract renewals
    • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of executive aircraft use and compensation data, as required by AXP, IRS, SEC, and FAA policy, rules, and regulations.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum Qualifications

    • 5 or more years working in an operational environment with oversight or managerial responsibilities in the stated duties for the role, specific experience in business or corporate aviation is preferred
    • Demonstrative organizational skills and prior work transferable to the operational environment, with focus on disciplined workflow management and process design
    • Written and verbal communication skills conducive to the stated responsibilities

    Preferred Qualifications

    • MBA or equivalent education and training in business analysis / planning, strategy, risk management or related areas (as determined by the VP of Aviation)
    • Working knowledge of SEC, IRS, and FAA regulations related to corporate aircraft use.
