Exhibit Development and Documentation Intern
Ignite your curiosity this summer—apply for the Exploratorium’s Welcome to Work Internship Program. The Exhibit Development Intern will work with various project teams, which produce assets and experiences that inspire visitors, empower educators, and contribute to our global impact. Largely a research, development, and production operation, Exhibit Development staff produce interactive exhibits, architectural elements, graphics collateral, and more, for our museum, local community, and partner organizations around the world.About The PositionDocument the development of new exhibits being created by staff as well as select existing exhibitsUpload assets to the internal Wiki and expand on resources related to the exhibit and related phenomenaPlan, record, and edit (for internal use only) exhibit developers discussing the history and maintenance of exhibitsAttend exhibit developer group and project team meetings where relevant topics are discussedGain appreciation for the details that go into producing informal learning experiencesResearch other exhibitions and artworks to inform the project, contributing to a shared bank of ideasPrototype different ideas on the floor and with team membersObserve visitor interactions with exhibit prototypes to inform improvements and changesParticipate in the critical response feedback model for exhibit critiquesAbout YouYou are seeking an opportunity to practice the skills you have been learning in an educational space. Skills you will bring and expand on are:Basic understanding of video and collections documentation Interest in developing basic prototype building skills Ability to work independently, seeking help or guidance as neededInterest in working with a team of creative individuals with complementary rolesIntellectual curiosity and appreciation of science learningProactively interested in meeting new people and asking questionsYou are currently studying museum studies, education, engineering, psychology, sociology, environmental science, art, industrial (product) design, or related subjectsHow To ApplyThis is a temporary, part-time (28 hours per week), non-exempt position. Participants must be able to be physically present in San Francisco for the duration of the internship: June 13– August 19, 2022. Weekly schedule is flexible within the hours of 9:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m Monday–Friday. The pay rate is $19/ hour.Completed applications are due Monday, March 28, 2022 (midnight PST).
