  • Responsibilities

    FI Trader I is responsible for assisting the Senior Traders, and the greater team, in the consistent generation of positive revenue by buying or selling debt products to ultimate institutional buy-side customers, in a manner compliant with all relevant regulations and firm policies. The FI Trader I assists Senior Traders in establishing the bid and offer prices for customer inquiry, managing the risk metrics and P/L associated with positions, and marking-to-market positions every day. The FI Trader I is knowledgeable about the greater market, macro trends, needs of target clients and the Firm’s products and services.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONISIBILITES

    • Responsible for pre-trade checks, including confirmation of positions, pricing and offering.
    • Collaborates with Senior Traders with establishing the bid and offer prices for customer inquiry by leveraging his/her knowledge of the prevailing market, including electronic price data and modeling software.
    • Assess the risk associated with positions by utilizing intra-day and end-of-day reports from internal trade capture and books-and-records systems.
    • Manages P/L and marking-to-market positions daily with the Senior team.
    • Reviews all securities transactions to ensure accuracy of information, as well as compliance with all applicable governing trade regulations.
    • Assists with middle and backoffice operations reconciliation.
    • Continually cultivates relationships with clients and engages with sales and research personnel daily.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Ability to effectively communicate macro market information to all levels of staff.
    • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems in a timely manner.
    • Ability to ensure necessary and relevant information is passed on to others in a timely and articulate manner.
    • Skilled at developing, maintaining and strengthening partnerships with others inside or outside the organization who can provide information, assistance and support.
    • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing excellent customer service that meets needs assessment and quality standards.
    • Ability to multi-task and successfully perform in a fast-paced environment.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Minimum Required: Bachelors’ degree or equivalent in related
    • Minimum Required: 3-5 years of Industry experience such as internships, financial services related experience
    • Experience with loans and agent securities required.

    LICENSES AND CREDENTIALS

    • Minimum Required: SIE, Series 7 & 63 required within 6 months of hire.

    SYSTEMS AND TECHNOLOGY

    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
    • Industry standard trade capture and risk management systems.
    • Proficient in Bloomberg TOMS trade capture and position management system.
    • Proficient in In-house data distribution and archiving systems.
