POSITION SUMMARY: The intern will contribute to the creation of the third volume of the History of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, spanning the years of 1985-2015. Duties will include searching for, identifying, gathering, and organizing historically important information regarding the Dallas Feds actions, activities, discussions, and decisions about the major economic, financial, and cultural events during this period. The intern will also provide his/her insight into the information found and be a contributing member of the history project team. This is an important and unique project sponsored by the Banks top management. The scope of the History Project will encompass the history of the Eleventh Districts head office (Dallas), as well as that of its three branch offices (El Paso, Houston, and San Antonio). The product is expected to be completed within two to three years and will consist of a printed book, and other digital-format products. The intern will join a team of two other staff and report to a project manager. ** ** KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: * Research, identify, gather, and organize historical information using both direction and personal judgement * Interact with staff as necessary to successfully complete this research * Contribute thoughts and insights regarding the use of the information found * Participate in meetings and discussions * Respond promptly to emails, voicemails, and other requests _EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: _ * Excellent communication and writing skills. * Excellent organization and assimilation skills. * Excellent interpersonal skills. * A penchant for detective work and an interest in history. * A quick learner to identify what is historically significant. * Ability to receive direction and leverage intuitive reasoning. * A proficient, methodical problem solver who can dynamically respond to changing situations. * Ability to work to deadlines. * Economics, Library Science, Political Science, or History majors preferred, but other disciplines reflecting the skills and abilities above will be considered. Experience in research projects is a plus. Equivalent education and/or experience may be substituted for any of the above requirements WORK HOURS AND CONDITIONS: Monday Friday, 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m.; flexibility/additional hours may be required NOTES: This is a 10 - 12 week internship from June to August 2019 located in the Dallas office. Interns will be expected to work 40 hours per week for the entire internship period. Interns will be responsible for any relocation and housing expenses. Employment is contingent upon the selected candidate passing a background check and drug screen. Candidates will be required to submit at least three references and submit fingerprints prior to employment.
