    SUMMARY: The Deposit Services Professional/Legal Support Specialist is responsible for working within the department and with other areas of the Bank to develop and implement well-defined procedures for internal customers to follow. Procedures related to a state statute, regulation, federal guidance, etc., are the primary focus (i.e., researching and documenting procedures related to account titling and set-up within the core system for both personal and business accounts).

    Reviews all business new account documentation to ensure it is accurate and complete.

    Acts as a subject matter expert to internal sales teams regarding account titling and set-ups.

    Investigates and performs research on state statutes, legal websites, industry resources, etc. to assist in answering questions related to new/unique situations.

    Processes and responds to levies, garnishments and subpoenas.

    Solves practical problems and interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or schedule form.

    Remains current with changes in topics that impact tasks and responsibilities performed in Customer Service department; and on all regulatory requirements and training.

    Ensures discovery requests are conducted across all customer contact channels.

    Stays abreast of all policies, procedures, and regulations pertaining Deposit Services.

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

    High school diploma or its equivalent and at least five years working in a bank risk department is required. Preferred candidates have either an associate degree or bachelor degree from an accredited college/university plus related bank experience. Will also consider a candidate with a paralegal certificate and a minimum of five years banking experience in the operations or compliance department. Must understand legal and regulatory aspects related to consumer and business deposit accounts and ownership; including account ownership and titling, bank regulations, etc. Requires effective time management and customer service abilities. A working understanding of legal terminology is desired.

    OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    Position requires individual with excellent organizational skills. Superior communications skills (verbal and written) are necessary, as this position requires regular interaction with internal and external customers, attorneys, and experts in other requesting entities. Strong research skills are necessary for researching needed documents and finding the appropriate resource to find solutions. Individual will need to function within an environment of potential distractions and interruptions, which requires the ability to effectively manage time; remain focused; and manage priorities and details. Ability to problem solve independently and work effectively within a team.
