    Job Description

    POSITION OVERVIEW

    As a Mortgage Underwriter, you will be responsible for mortgage loan approval/decline decisions on incoming applications consistent with the Credit Union's policies. This position is responsible for performing critical loan and compliance review for all first mortgage and home equity loans, as well as approving and declining loans as required.

    This is a full-time, non-exempt position with hours being anywhere between 8:30 AM to 7:00 PM with rotating Saturdays.

    QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

    Must have the ability to handle a large volume of detailed information

    Must have solid knowledge of first mortgage lending principles and procedures, loan services, the financial services industry, and Credit Union philosophy

    Must have the ability to counsel, communicate and make decisions as required

    Advanced knowledge of first mortgage and second mortgage loans, and related loan documents

    Advanced knowledge of real estate loan regulations, Uniform Commercial Code, Reg. B, RESPA, Reg. Z, TRID requirements, loans, operations and credit union philosophy

    Advanced knowledge of credit and income fundamentals (credit scoring, reviewing of a credit report, debt ratio calculation for advanced income analysis, etc.) (For ex; Income tax analysis, scheduled C and E)

    Advanced analytical skills sufficient to conduct an analysis of an applicant's credit status and property/collateral assessment

    Proficiency using Encompass mortgage management system strongly preferred
