GENERAL SUMMARY
The Staff Accountant position performs accurate input and balancing of the general ledger. This employee is responsible for the financial preparation and analysis of accounts and reports as assigned. The staff accountant will coordinate with 3rd party firms on accounting issues and requirements.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBIITIES:
Maintain and open/close GL accounts in Jack Henry
Perform journal entries and post transactions to the general ledger
Perform Accounts Payable transactions in Banktel
Work with department managers on invoice approval process and budgeting
Oversee and ensure that assigned general ledger accounts are in balance
Prepare various reports utilizing the core general ledger and other software tools from Microsoft Office
Maintain appropriate databases as assigned
Facilitate the preparation of the quarterly Call Report and other regulatory reports as assigned
Assist in the preparation of Regulatory examinations or Financial Audits
Make necessary entries for cash and tax dividends
Keep accurate records of fixed assets and coordinate changes and accuracy with BKD
Send documents for preparation of the FR Y-8, FR Y-9, FR Y-6 and OK Franchise tax return and ensure that filings take place on time
Provide year end information for tax preparation and financial audit review
Prepare 1099 information and submit
Prepare semi-annual FRB dividend entry
Assist Hybarger with any questions about balance sheet and P&L
SKILLS REQUIRED:
Computer skills including proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excel at operating in a face paced community environment
Strong organizational skills
Self Starter with initiative to manage projects and meet timelines
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of two years formal education in general accounting
Minimum of five years of experience in general accounting
Ability to pass background check
