  • Responsibilities

    The goal of the First Year Insights program is to bridge the gap between college & corporate careers by demystifying invaluable professional development skills to hone in on early in your college career. Additionally, this will be an opportunity for you to network with Bloomberg professionals and experience Bloomberg culture.

    This program provides invaluable coaching and guidance on skills that are essential for success in the corporate world.  Begin building your career toolkit now to tackle interviews, internships and future career opportunities with confidence and ease.

    First Year Insights kicks off with an in-person event on April 12, followed by a monthly series of five online workshops covering professional development, DEI-focused career support and resources for managing mental health and wellness.

    Participation in all five workshops grants students early access to applications for our 2025 sophomore externship program.

    Who we’re looking for

    First-year college students who are:

    • Interested in finance and technology, regardless of major or discipline
    • Motivated individuals who can commit to actively participating in the online workshops

    Bloomberg is committed to advancing individuals from underrepresented backgrounds. This program is open to college first-years, including without limitation, who identify as Black, African-American, Hispanic, Latinx, Native, Indigenous and/or are first-generation college students.

    What to expect

    The monthly online workshops offer an opportunity for students to:

    • Build professional development skills such as personal branding and networking
    • Receive career prep and planning advice from diversity-focused recruiters
    • Learn about resources and approaches to managing mental health & wellness 
    • Get tips on time management and other college-life skills

    Upon completion of the program, you will be eligible to win special prizes, including Uber Eats codes, complimentary access to Bloomberg Market Concepts and Bloomberg ESG Certificate courses, or a one-on-one resume review with a Bloomberg recruiter.
