  • Responsibilities

    The Fixed Income Loan Trader consistently generates positive revenue by matching buyers and sellers of whole loans and loan participations in a manner compliant with all relevant regulations and firm policies. All loan trading is exclusively customer-based and occurs with Stifel acting in an agent or riskless principal capacity. The loan trader is responsible for developing customer relationships, pricing and marketing loan portfolios and/or pools, and overseeing loan transactions through closing.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONISIBILITIES

    • Partner with sales representatives and strategists to serve Stifel's institutional clients interested in buying and selling whole loans and loan participations.
    • Analyze and value loan pools to develop appropriate strategies for client needs and objectives.
    • Market loan offerings internally and externally to drive loan transactions.
    • Coordinate with team members to successfully progress loan transactions from inception through settlement.
    • Develop, maintain, and strengthen partnerships with others inside or outside the organization.
    • Build successful relationships and compel others to support and empower the team to achieve success.
    • Additional duties and projects as assigned by the Trading Desk Head.

    • Convey information and ideas in spoken or written form so that others will understand.
    • Use logic and reasoning to promptly identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
    • Consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to promptly choose the most appropriate one.
    • Identify when something is wrong or will likely go wrong and recognize the importance of alerting management promptly, which may or may not involve executing a solution.
    • Understand new information's implications for current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
    • Manage one's own time and priorities to meet deadlines.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Minimum required: Bachelor's degree in a related field.
    • Minimum required: 5 years' experience in the financial industry or related field.

    LICENSES AND CREDENTIALS

    • Minimum required: FINRA Series 7 & 63 or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.

    SYSTEMS AND TECHNOLOGY

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Proficient with the Bloomberg Trading System.
    • Experience using S&P Capital IQ.
