The Rehabilitation Liaison is responsible for marketing to area Physicians, Social Workers, Discharge Planners, Case Managers, Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Skilled Nursing Facilities, Long Term Care Facilities, etc. for the purpose of admitting patients to the rehabilitation unit who meet criteria related to physical ability/tolerance for attending therapy at least three hours a day, (among other Medicare-required criteria) medical stability, and private insurance approval. The Rehabilitation Liaison will also screen patients keeping in mind the most current CMS admission (Center for Medicare / Medicaid Services) requirements related to the 60% rule for inpatient rehabilitation.  

Required Skills Required Experience

Must either have licensure from the Alabama State Board of Social Workers as a licensed Social Worker or the Alabama State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse, or licensed as an allied health professional (PT, OT, ST, LPC). One to two years in case management/social work experience in the acute care, rehabilitation, or workers compensation setting is required.  A minimum of BLS is required. BLS must be obtained within 30 days of hire. BLS must be renewed per BLS guidelines and up to date.

Master’s degree in Economics or a Master’s degree and 18sh or 30qh of graduate course work in economics or applied economics.
