  • Responsibilities

    Join the CME Group GlobalBrand Marketing and Communications team for a summer internship that will allow you to gain experience working in all aspects of marketing communications to help us build the brand of the world’s leading derivatives marketplace. This role will be responsible for supporting comprehensive, multi-channel campaigns and promotional activities across a wide spectrum of marketing disciplines including: brand marketing, media relations, employee communications, community relations, event execution, social media and other digital marketing/communications.

    Fully integrated into our team on Day 1, our interns wear many hats and gain exposure to a range of marketing activities:

    • For public relations, the candidate will assist in conducting research, developing and maintaining press lists, participating in brainstorming meetings, and assisting with pitch letters, media interview briefs, press releases and social media content.

    • For employee communications/community relations, the candidate will assist with content creation/audit/management for the employee intranet, story/writing assignments and other project support as needed.

    • For brand marketing/event management, the candidate will assist in planning and delivering brand marketing programs and events, collaborating with internal teams and external partners to support awareness, engagement and brand integrity. Will help coordinate overall brand marketing efforts and events, including creative development, asset management and onsite-support.

    • For social media and digital communications, the candidate will assist with compiling performance data and analytics, identifying trends and producing competitive landscape analysis.

    Principal Accountabilities:

    • Maintain and create external-facing materials for print and online channels

    • Pull and analyze data from a range of marketing channels and tools

    • Research adjacent markets, promotional channels and press coverage and assist in preparing competitive and other analysis

    • Write and proofread communications, including press releases, digital and social media copy, internal communications and other business correspondence

    • Assist with preparation of presentations and execution of events

    • Participate in brainstorming sessions for product positioning and campaign planning

    • Assist with administrative tasks and other assignments as needed

    Qualifications:

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills

    • Resourceful and well-organized with an ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines

    • Basic knowledge of Google Workspace and Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint/Slides, Excel/Sheets, Word/Docs)

    • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with professionalism and sound judgment when handling information

    • Social media savvy, including familiarity with social media platforms and content creation

    • Interest in marketing, branding, media or corporate communications, with exposure to events, branding or campaign support

    • Curiosity about analytics, audience engagement‌ or emerging technologies (including AI tools for content creation)

    • Coursework in business or economics is a plus

    • Local to Chicago summer 2026 and able to work on a hybrid schedule (3 days in office per week at 20 S. Wacker Drive)

    Education:

    • Currently enrolled at a 4-year institution as a rising junior or senior (graduating summer or winter 2027; summer 2028)

    • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in marketing, advertising, communications, public relations, journalism or related field

    CME Group is committed to offering a competitive pay package for our employee interns. The pay range typically applicable to our intern roles is $21.10--$35.14. Actual pay offered will be dependent on a wide array of factors including but not limited to: relevant experience, skills, education, location of the internship, and the internship area of focus.
