  • Responsibilities

    Mizuho offers an eleven-week internship program during student’s final summer prior to graduation. We aim to immerse summer analysts into the daily life of a commercial banker specializing in Cash Management. Cash Product represents the products and services used by companies to facilitate the management of cash inflows, outflows and liquidity domestically and internationally. It includes the functions of sales, product development, channel management and support.

    The work will include learning the various Cash products offered by the GTBA Cash Team at Mizuho as well as project oriented tasks including financial analysis, process review and development of thought-led pitch book materials in collaboration with our industry-leading cash product and sales managers as well as with bank-wide product partners.

    By working at Mizuho, interns will gain an in-depth understanding of how a leading and growing global bank operates in the American market. Prior to beginning work with the GTBA Cash team, we provide in-house and external technical training, covering core investment banking skills including accounting and financial modeling. From day one, summer analysts will have the same responsibilities as our full-time analysts, working side-by-side with GTBA’s senior Cash leaders on pitch materials for Mizuho’s existing and prospective clients, as well as the management of our Cash product set and execution of cash and liquidity management related transactions. We aim to provide summer analysts with the overall Mizuho experience, and look to invite top performers back to join the institution as a full-time analysts following graduation.

    Responsibilities

    • Perform in-depth company, financial and industry analysis (both qualitative and quantitative) in support of the cash products offered by Mizuho’s Global Transaction Banking business unit;

    • Facilitate and coordinate idea generation between GTBA Cash, product groups and coverage bankers, developing cash management solutions for clients across Mizuho’s broad platform of global capabilities;

    • Support the GTBA Cash Sales team and under the guidance of Sales or Product staff, interface with clients;

    • Develop and prepare comprehensive pitch materials that rely on rigorous analysis and the utilization of customer data;

    • Assist in evaluation, preparation, due diligence and execution of cash management deals;

    • Aid in prospecting new client relationships (or building on existing relationships) by screening industries and market data utilizing various quantitative and qualitative metrics;

    • Collaborate with other groups within Mizuho as part of the client relationship management and business development functions;

    • Prepare high-profile internal GTBA Cash strategy papers in coordination with Product and Sales heads; and

    • Collaborate with other interns across offices and product groups on a summer-long group project that will be presented to Senior Management at the Bank.

  • Qualifications

    Requirements

    • Minimum 3.2 GPA and enrolled in the penultimate year of college/university

    • Working toward a degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, Liberal Arts, or a related field

    • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required.

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong team-player mentality

    • Prior work experience in banking/ finance or strong interest in pursuing a career in finance
