Leave of Absence Consultant GM Financial 487 reviews - Fort Worth, TX OVERVIEW The Leave and Accommodation Consultant is responsible for the administration of the company's leave of absence programs across the company including FMLA, medical, personal. Military, and accommodations under ADA. This position will focus on escalated Leave and accommodation issues. This team member interfaces with other company departments, as well as, leave of absence vendor. RESPONSIBILITIES JOB DUTIES Administers leave programs and policies in accordance with applicable federal and state employment laws (FMLA, ADA, USERRA, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, etc) Ensures that the workers' compensation program is managed in accordance with applicable OSHA and workers' compensation laws Oversees all aspects of leave and workers' compensation programs and vendors, including case management and administrative processes of the cases and claims Collaborates with workers' compensation claims adjuster, medical professionals and legal counsel in the handling of return-to-work or restricted duty issues Serves as the subject matter expert for the leave and workers' compensation programs in alignment and under the general direction and guidance of HR leadership Partners closely with HR business partners on all leave cases, accommodations and workers' compensation claims Meets regularly with HRBPs to review claims' status and develops strategies for resolution Ensures that HIPAA and employee privacy are closely monitored and effectively executed Makes recommendation for the optimal approach to initiating and conducting the ADA process in each leave case handled, and if treating physician's recommended ADA accommodation(s) are acceptable or if an alternate accommodation(s) can be determined REPORTING RELATIONSHIP AVP Total Rewards QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge Working knowledge of leave administration, including FMLA and ADA, including experience with Employment Law related to Leave of Absence Skills Excellent oral and written communication skills Strong analytical skills to compile and analyze data for reporting purposes Ability to make independent decisions relating to daily operations, consulting with Human Resources leadership on matters that may be an exception to policy Excellent computer skills, especially spreadsheets, databases and word processing Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner Interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization Education Bachelors Degree equivalent experience may substitute preferred Experience 3-5 years progressively responsible experience in a Leave role required Work Conditions Occasional overtime or split shifts may be required Subject to loud noise Subject to stressful situations harsh language from customers normal office environment Fast-paced office environment Strong focus on providing quality service to internal and external customers Work a flexible schedule including extended business hours, weekends and holidays Work additional hours based on production demands requiring mandatory overtime Flexible schedule with possibility of working long hours Subject to daily service level requirements Limited travel may be required to support business needs Must be able to deal with stressful office conditions while troubleshooting problems 3 hours ago - save job
