  • Responsibilities

    This is a GENERAL MANAGER position that is responsible for all aspects of the operations of the Auto dealership. RCU Auto Services (RCUAS) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Redwood Credit Union. We sell pre-owned vehicles and offer an auto brokering service that can locate and deliver any new or used vehicle. As the General Manager, you would be responsible for developing, planning, organizing, implementing and managing the operations of RCU Auto Services (RCUAS) to meet the goals of the Auto Services division as well as support the strategies of the overall credit union.

    Required Skills

    THE JOB! (THE BIG STUFF):

    • Using an entrepreneurial approach, develop and execute a strategy for growth for RCUAS.
    • Oversee the purchase of all used vehicles on our dealership lot.
    • Responsible for ensuring appropriate margin and gain on vehicles purchased.
    • Researches, analyzes, develops and implements additional products and services for RCUAS and RCU. 
    • Works with Redwood Credit Union to manage the liquidation of repossession inventory.
    • Develops and directs relations with other auto dealerships for auto brokering and manages and obtains inventory for sale at the auto dealership.
    • Work with Consumer Lending to improve overall dealer relationships and foster loan growth for Redwood Credit Union.
    • Develop and grow our sources of vehicles for purchase on our dealership lot.
    • Oversight of all dealership aspects including the finance, sales, and inventory departments.
    • Recruit, lead, coach, mentor, motivate, develop and discipline Auto Services staff.

    Required Experience

    WHAT'S NEEDED IN THE ROLE:

    • 8 to 10 years' of experience in automotive sales preferred, 2 years' supervisory experience
    • Combination of education and experience equal to a bachelor's degree. 
    • Adept knowledge and skill in running the day-to-day operations for an auto sales business that moves on average 115 units a month.
    • Ability to direct and supervise the work of others.
    • Excellent understanding of consumer loan operating systems and the CUDL system.
    • Skill in establishing relationships with the fleet divisions of automobile dealerships.
    • Thorough knowledge and understanding of basic accounting principles to understand profit/loss and margin on vehicle sales.
