    Position Overview:

    Freddie Mac is a dynamic organization, providing interns a wide variety of experiences and responsibilities to build subject matter expertise and soft skills, as well as expand their network. Interns at Freddie Mac have the opportunity to actively work on real-world projects which will provide them broad exposure to Freddie Mac’s important role in the mortgage industry, while developing skills that will apply directly to their future career!

    Our Impact:

    • GIR is responsible for ensuring that Congress, state governments, industry and housing groups, and other key stakeholders understand and value how Freddie Mac is fulfilling its mission, protecting taxpayers, supporting lenders of all sizes, and providing safe and affordable housing for homeowners and renters.
    • The GIR team is instrumental in helping Freddie Mac achieve strategic objectives critical to establishing itself as a marketplace leader.
    • We support our various divisions, through better understanding of their business needs and assisting them with the analysis and guidance needed to make the best decisions.
    • As an intern GIR, you will have the opportunity to experience our impact firsthand as you support important work in the following areas:
      • State Relations
      • Congressional Relations
      • Industry Relations

    Your Impact:

    • Assist with the coverage of various activities in state relations, including legislative tracking and bill analysis
    • Assist with the coverage of various congressional activities, including hearings, markups, bill analysis, and other congressional actions
    • Successfully track and provide summary analyses of key housing research
    • Support industry relations activities
    • Support GIR with other ad hoc activities as assigned
  • Qualifications
    • Minimum cumulative 3.2 GPA
    • Pursing either an undergraduate or graduate degree in Public Policy, Political Science, History/Government, English, or other related degree
    • Graduation date of December 2021 / May 2022
    • Availability to begin the internship as early as January 2021

    Keys to Success in this Role:

    • Ability to learn new skills/concepts quickly
    • Any experience or background in Political Science or Public Policy a plus
    • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Problem solving ability
    • Strong Microsoft Office skills
    • Must be a great teammate and able to work collaboratively
    • Ability to work efficiently under tight timelines with a positive attitude
