    _ Basics of a Collections Representative_

    • Hybrid Position
    • Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

    _ What you'll do as a Collections Representative_

    • Maintain consistent daily follow-up of delinquent loans, credit cards, and share accounts.
    • Place outbound telephone calls to members regarding delinquent accounts and negotiate repayment options.
    • Successful Collections Representatives should expect to run into some hostility when making these calls.
    • Field inbound telephone calls from members regarding delinquent accounts and negotiate repayment options.
    • Initiate skip-tracing procedures on members who have moved and have failed to notify the credit union. Advises department management when further action may be necessary.
    • Communicate and interact with other credit union teammates to gather information for resolution of delinquent accounts.
    • Review credit union records and transactions to resolve misapplied payments, researching account transactions to ensure that payments are properly credited. Evaluate payments (regular and irregular) being made on delinquent accounts and determine how the payment will be applied; i.e., principal, interest, escrow, and late charges, or possibly return payment if foreclosure proceedings have been initiated or payment is unacceptable.
    • Comply with credit union policies, Fair Debt Collection Practices, and other applicable rules and regulations related to Collections.
    • Comply with the credit union Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) Policy and Anti Money Laundering and Member Due Diligence Procedures. The BSA training is to be completed within 90 days of employment and annually thereafter.
    • Complete compliance and career development training as assigned.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    • Skills: Verbal and written communication, customer service, attention to detail, and problem-solving.
    • Experience: 2+ years of financial industry.
    • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

    _ Nice to haves for a Collections Representative_

    • Skills: Bilingual.
    • Experience: Experience in collections.
    • Education: Associate’s degree in a business-related field.
