It provides loans, grants, guarantees, policy advice and technical assistance to the public and private sectors of its borrowing countries. IDB Invest, a member of the Inter-American Development Bank Group (IDBG), is a multilateral organization based in Washington, D.C., that is committed to the development of Latin America and the Caribbean through non-sovereign guaranteed operations. As part of its mission, IDB Invest supports the private sector and state-owned enterprises through financing in the form of loans, equity investments, and guarantees. IDB Invest also collaborates with clients to provide advisory and training services. The Investment Operations Department (INO) of IDB Invest follows a matrix model, with three segment Divisions covering; Infrastructure and Energy (IEN), Financial Institutions (FLI) and Corporates (SMC), and transversal areas such as the Financial Products and Services Division (FNP), in charge of capital market solutions, trade and supply chain finance, resource mobilization and equity products, the Portfolio Management Division (PTM), and the Advisory Services and Blended Finance Team (NFP), in charge of technical cooperation and blended finance. The Departments ultimate goal is to generate sustainable projects with significant development impact from the prospecting stage through closing and monitoring. IDB Invests Financial Institutions Division (INO/FLI) Division supports a broad range of Financial Institutions (FIs) such as banks, mutual banks, credit cooperatives, financial and insurance companies, funds and microfinance institutions, among others, through debt and equity financing, guarantees and knowledge to promote economic development, job creation and the adoption of sustainable environmental, social and corporate governance principles. Consultancy objective The objective of this consultancy is to provide support to INO/FLI in the origination and closing of transactions for IDB Invest in the Caribbean. Main activities Reporting to the INO/FLI Division Chief and in accordance with the needs of the INO/FLI Division, the selected candidates scope of activities shall include, but not be limited to: * Support Team Leaders and project teams in the origination, structuring, negotiation and closing of high development impact transactions with banks, microfinance and other non-bank financial institutions in the Caribbean that are consistent with IDB Invest´s operations policies and in the relationship management of potential clients. * Support project teams throughout the transaction approval process by various levels of IDB Invest management and its Board of Directors, in accordance with established procedures, including coordination with the credit risk management, environmental and social safeguards, legal, mobilization and other internal units. * Contribute to the financial and risk analysis of potential clients; and advise on the financial viability of projects. * Participate with project teams in due diligence missions and carry out industry research on financial intermediaries. * Participate in the negotiation of transaction contracts and related legal documents in coordination with project teams. * Prepare, in coordination with project teams, project-related presentations, reports, spreadsheets, memos, among others, as needed. Qualifications * Academic Degree/Level & Years of Professional Work Experience: Masters degree (or equivalent) in Finance, Economics, Business Administration or related fields. The contractual should have three (3) years of relevant work experience. * Languages: Proficiency in English and Spanish; working knowledge of Portuguese or French a plus. * Areas of Expertise: The contractual should have experience conducting financial and risk analysis of financial institutions and participating in the structuring, negotiation and documentation of equity investments, loans and guarantees, preferably in a development institution environment. Characteristics of the Consultancy * Contractual category and modality: Defined Term Contractual (DTC), monthly * Contract duration: 36 months * Place(s) of work: IDB Invest headquarters or one of IDBGs country office in the Caribbean (i.e. Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominican Republic, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Surinam or Trinidad & Tobago) * Supervisor: Division Chief, Financial Institutions Division Payment and Conditions: Compensation will be determined in accordance with Banks policies and procedures. The Bank, pursuant to applicable policies, may contribute toward travel and moving expenses. In addition, candidates must be citizens of an IDB member country. Visa and Work Permit: The Bank, pursuant to applicable policies, may submit a visa request to the applicable immigration authorities; however, the granting of the visa is at the discretion of the immigration authorities. Notwithstanding, it is the responsibility of the candidate to obtain the necessary visa or work permits required by the authorities of the country(ies) in which the services will be rendered to the Bank.
