    Contracts Associate Location: Kansas City, MO Job Code: HCR#2200 Description Position Purpose: Serve as primary point of contact for the administration of assigned Credit and Risk Documentation. Assist in developing global Credit and Risk documentation and processes. Organize and direct teams from various departments and global offices to accurately complete all Credit and Risk documentation in a timely manner. Primary Accountabilities/Responsibilities: Primary role is assisting senior group attorneys in the completion of contract drafting and negotiation for the global organization and independently negotiating and administering assigned contracts. Performs duties of contract administration and correspondence for contracts and sub-contracts. Effects quality control for Credit and Risk documentation. Coordinates negotiation of contract terms from proposal stage to project close-out in accordance with relevant internal policies. Maintains current knowledge of relevant laws as well as internal contractual procedures and practices. Creates process maps and formulates observations and recommendations for process improvement. Initiates Credit and Risk contract negotiations based on an understanding of the available, approved templates. Ensures flow of approval and execution of contractual documents in accordance with corporate and/or business unit guidelines. Summarizes and communicates legal, business, credit and operational terms or changes to standard contracts to appropriate departments. Maintains detailed status reports on all negotiations for tracking and audit purposes. Prepares contract amendments, resolutions and other changes to standard company agreements using approved templates. Assists in the management of a contract database for retaining, indexing and reporting on all material contract terms for all Credit and Risk documentation. Participates in the development of guidelines, systems and routines regarding contract administration. Job Requirements: 0-2 years contract-related experience. Juris Doctorate required. License to practice law in MO preferred; License or eligibility for licensure within 6-months in a US-state required. Contractual law background preferred. Has a general understanding of the business case and an appreciation of financial/ analytical issues and profit and loss implications. Ability to summarize and communicate, in an intuitive and effective manner, legal documents to all stakeholders across an organization. Effective administrative, organizational, planning, computer, and communication skills required. Strong analytical, organizational, and written communication skills required. Strong verbal communication skills preferred. Ability to use independent judgment to resolve contractual issues required. Ability to juggle multiple priorities effectively. Ability to deal with issues proactively and meet deadlines. Strong work ethic and emphasis on attention to details. Ability to independently organize, prioritize, and complete assigned projects in a timely and professional manner.
