  • Responsibilities

    Position Summary:

    A Banking Controller is responsible for the accounting and financial reporting of all banking businesses which includes and not limited to IG, HY, Securitization, Margin Loans, Lending, Deposits, and Working Capital Solutions. Banking Controllers are responsible for the monitoring of transactions, P&L, and act as a primary control function. The controller is also expected to resolve variances between expected Business revenues and actual revenues. Additionally, the controller will be responsible for ensuring that daily, monthly, and yearly reporting agree to the general ledger and by legal line item.

    Essential Job Duties:

    • Daily, monthly and quarterly P&L production and analysis

    • Daily interaction with the business

    • Liaison with various areas within the firm (e.g. Operations, Technology, FP&A, Business)

    • Process reengineering to improve efficiencies

    • Month-end General Ledger closes in conjunction with the accounting team

    • Balance sheet substantiation

    • Ad hoc requests from the desk or management

    • Participation in Finance initiatives

    • Assess new trades for appropriate valuation, accounting treatment, and disclosure in the financial statements

    Qualifications:

    • Investment Banking experience

    • CPA or CFA preferred, but not required

    • 4+ years of product control experience

    • High attention to detail

    • Fast learner and team player

    • Strong analytic and problem solving skills

    • Highly proficient in Excel (v-lookups, pivot tables)

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; the ability to clearly articulate ideas

    • Accounting or Finance degree required

    The expected base salary ranges from $77,000 - $135,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
