Investment Tax Team Internship in Denver (Summer 2017)
Assist with the tax provision process, ASC 740 documentation and financial statement disclosures for regulated investment companies (mutual funds).
Become acquainted with technical tax concepts in the area of financial products, including financial derivatives such as futures, options and swaps.
Cultivate technical tax knowledge in the specialized areas of regulated investment companies (Subchapter M) and investment partnerships.
Evaluate foreign investments for treatment as passive foreign investment companies and develop knowledge with respect to IRC §1297 and related sections and regulations.
Gather and analyze tax data on master limited partnerships with special attention to IRC §751.
Collect required information reporting form documentation, evaluate forms and organize documentation retention.
Gain exposure to the tax rules in foreign markets in which our mutual funds invest and participate in the tax documentation requirements for registration, foreign tax relief at source and foreign tax reclaims.
Special projects and process improvement projects as identified.
Accounting or Finance major preferable
Interest in pursuing a tax-related career
Currently a junior or senior college student, intention to pursue a masters in tax a plus
Strong Microsoft Office skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Self-starter and ability to work independently while handling multiple tasks
Good analytical and problem solving skills
Expected to maintain an extremely high degree of accuracy
Inquisitive, wants to understand the reasons underlying a process or procedure
High degree of motivation, adaptability and flexibility
