Valuation Control Group (VCG) is an independent control group within Corporate Finance whose primary responsibility is to ensure that the assets and liabilities on the Firms balance sheet represent fair value. FASB Statement No 107 refers to the disclosure of the estimated fair value for certain financial instruments on the Firms financial statement. In this respect, VCG (FAS 107) is tasked with ensuring that the valuation as disclosed in the 10Q/10K is reasonable and fair. The successful candidate will be part of a team with valuation responsibilities that spans multiple businesses across the Firm and will have exposure to many financial products that the Firm provides to its clients (e.g. consumer loans, securitized products, deposits, etc.). Responsibilities will include: * Executing a price verification process utilizing market data, internal assumptions or other financial modeling techniques * Developing and monitoring market relevant indicators to assist in calibrating pricing parameters * Applying fair value concepts to comply with FASB guidance on Fair Value Hierarchy disclosure * Contributing to the ongoing efforts around the development of efficiencies and innovations to enhance existing processes and control frameworks * Acting in a challenger capacity to ensure proper vetting of valuation * Leading projects to strengthen VCGs control agendas * At least three years experience in the financial sector with specific knowledge in one of the following: mortgage or other consumer loans, mortgage or asset -backed securities, credit derivatives/CDS. Experience in loan pricing, a plus. * Ability to understand and explain complex products / concepts * An independent thinker with a strong commitment to learn and think creatively * Experience working with traders and/or in a Risk / Structuring capacity is a plus * Strong verbal and written communications skills. * Analytical and quantitative aptitude; data analysis a plus * Advanced Excel and Powerpoint skills. Experience with Visual Basic, automation and database skills a plus * Ability to prioritize multiple tasks efficiently * Finance/Mathematics/Economics degree preferred. MBA a plus.
