The Legal & Compliance Juris Doctorate Intern performs entry work related to their field of study and the legal profession. Work involves supporting agency operations with a primary focus on gaining practical work experience and business skills for personal development or to satisfy educational requirements. Works under close supervision with limited latitude for initiative and independent judgment. This position reports to the manager or director of the assigned department.

• This is a paid, full-time position that offers interns the opportunity to gain exposure to multiple practice areas relevant to administering a public pension system, including administrative law (e.g., open government laws, privacy and confidentiality issues, records management, administrative appeals, and rule making), trusts, investments (e.g., securities, corporate, and finance law), retirement benefits, ethics, health care and insurance benefits, and employment law.

• Interns will have the opportunity to work closely with mentor-attorneys throughout the internship.

Note: This position is a full-time, limited term assignment. The internship program dates are June through August 2017.

• Currently enrolled in and actively attending an accredited law school and in good standing
• Must have completed at least one year of study by the start of the internship.
