    GENERAL SUMMARY/NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION:

    The Communications Specialist primarily oversees Kinecta’s escalated complaint process, manages the content for Kinecta’s intranet, and assists with the execution of Kinecta’s public relations (PR) plan. The Communications Specialist embodies the voice of Kinecta and champions Kinecta’s Core Values and Mission via internal and external channels. The Communications Specialist must have the ability to act independently in the development and support of the department’s internal communications (the intranet, emails, the all-employee annual meeting, the annual board meeting) and external communications (the Member Care complaint process and PR) initiatives.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Oversees Kinecta’s escalated complaint process (i.e., comments coming to Kinecta from members, via the Better Business Bureau, NCUA, CFPB, or letters sent directly to the executive team or board of directors). Files and tracks incoming complaints, alerts business units to the complaints, works with the business unit to understand how the complaint was resolved, writes responses to the members, works with the Legal team to review the responses, issues the response to the member. Tracks all complaints and reports cases on a monthly and quarterly basis to appropriate internal committees, including Compliance.
    2. Manages content for Kinecta’s intranet, “The Kinection,” with the goal of keeping employees informed and engaged. Duties may include: producing and managing the content calendar; the production, uploading, and timing of content; writing short and interesting articles; taking and posting photos; and producing short videos for the site. Manages the list of all administrators to the site. May assist in coordinating the enterprise refresh of the intranet.
    3. Assists with the execution of Kinecta’s PR plan, which may include: input on strategy; attending events to work with media, conducting interviews, or capturing photos; working with Kinecta’s external PR agency; developing PR and crisis communication campaigns; pitching local media; writing advisories, releases, pitches, and talking points; overseeing interviews; and monitoring results. Maintains media contact lists.
    4. Plans and coordinates media training as needed by Kinecta spokespeople.
    5. Acts as Kinecta’s spokesperson, as needed.
    6. Coordinates photo shoots internally and externally.
    7. Writes content for external use, including but not limited to the annual report, press releases, fact sheets, talking points.
    8. Supports all efforts for Kinecta’s Annual All-Employee Meeting for 700+ employees, as well as Kinecta’s Annual Board Meeting. Support for these meetings may include the creation and updating of the agenda, development of PowerPoint presentations, ordering of all awards and prizes, coordination of run-throughs, logistics, keynote speaker coordination, internal communications leading up to the event, and post-event recaps.
    9. Supports the communication needs of Kinecta’s Marketing, Community, and business units on projects, as needed.
    10. Assists the Director of Communications in developing and executing plans to update employees on company programs and goals.

    • Basic video recording and editing skills
    • Basic photo editing skills
    • Teamwork oriented and able to contribute to a positive team spirit
    • Expertise in all Microsoft Office Applications and basic proficiency in Photoshop
    • Ability to manage multiple projects on time and within budget.
    • Ability to prepare clear, concise and effective reports, correspondence, and other written materials.
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Strong sense of urgency

    Required Experience

    EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Marketing or related field.. Experience as outlined may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
    • Minimum 3-5 years of work experience in field
    • Preference for experience in the fields of: public relations, customer service, internal communications, or compliance.
    • Ability to multi-task in fast-paced environment
