    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  This position is temporary and requires teaching introductory courses in French. Applicants must have 18 graduate semester hours in French and hold a Master’s degree in any language or related area.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES:

    • Teach courses in accordance with college and departmental policies and procedures, as well as Basic Course  Information sheets.
    • Prepare and submit timely grade reports and other reports on student performance as may be scheduled or required.
    • Organize class activities and assignments, relating them to the overall learning outcomes of the course.
    • Provide input and work with other faculty and staff to review, produce and/ or select course-related materials.

     

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Extensive knowledge of the subject area(s) in which the individual is responsible for instruction.
    • Knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of effective communication and of effective instruction.
    • Knowledge and understanding of the characteristics and challenges of community college students.
    • Knowledge and understanding of principles of curriculum development.
    • Computer literate and able to navigate in a Windows environment.

    Required Skills Required Experience

  • Qualifications
    • BS degree required, MS and/or MBA degree strongly preferred.
    • 15+ years directly related progressive financial experience in nonprofit environments involving the planning and developing of multi-million-dollar budgets, implementation of strategic business plans, treasury management, investments, debt and insurance activities required.
    • Experience managing the financial and operational functions of an academic, medical or research institution strongly preferred.
    • Substantial familiarity with federal grants management and compliance issues required.
    • Demonstratable communication skills and strong relationship-building skills at all levels required, including with the Board of Directors. Experience messaging complex regulatory requirements required, including an ability to make sound risk management decisions.
    • Strong analytical skills required, and the ability to coherently synthesize complex or diverse information.
    • A leader who prioritizes and values diversity & inclusion required.
    • 10+ years’ experience as a hands-on manager, with a strong commitment to team development and experience leading, managing and developing a diverse, high caliber, and highly collaborative team required.

    ABOUT THE NEW YORK GENOME CENTER

    The New York Genome Center (NYGC) is an independent, nonprofit, academic research organization dedicated to advancing genomic research. NYGC scientists and staff are furthering new approaches to diagnosing and treating neurological diseases and cancer through their unique capabilities in whole genome sequencing, RNA sequencing, state-of-the art analytics, and the development of genomic tools. NYGC concentrates specifically on disease-based research in the following areas: neuropsychiatric disease (autism, schizophrenia, bipolar); neurodegenerative disease (ALS, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s), and cancer.

    Located in Lower Manhattan, the New York Genome Center was founded by and remains closely affiliated with elevent leading academic medical centers and research universities in the New York region, engaging in research projects with and for these institutions. Essential to our collaborative work is an outstanding faculty, whose members typically hold a joint appointment at NYGC and a partner university. They support our scientific mission by conducting independent research in areas of mutual interest to us and the wider scientific community.
