    Join ARES' team in support of NASA on the Kennedy Exploration Ground Systems (EGS) Program (LX) Support Services Contract Three (KLXS III) contract. Under the contract, ARES will provide engineering and technical services, program and business management support services and administrative support services to the EGS Program. The contract also includes support for ground systems and spaceflight systems planning and design; project management and integration; operations integration and analysis; technical requirements development, management, and compliance; cost, risk, information and configuration management; and schedule integration and analysis.

     

    The Range Integration Engineer V position is a part time, 20 hours per week senior level engineering position.  Responsibilities may include conceptual thinking, designing and developing plans, processes, procedures, functional and data requirements analysis, complex system analysis, and documentation preparation for complex systems.

    Candidate will perform as the interface between the Exploration Grounds Systems (EGS) Program at the Kennedy Space Center (KSC) and the 45th Space Wing (45 SW) at the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station (CCAFS) ensuring that the EGS/SLS/Orion Programs are compliant with Range Safety requirements for launch on the Air Force (AF) Eastern Range (ER). This position is also instrumental in developing and maintaining the Artemis 1 Program Requirements Documents (PRDs). 

     

      

    Required Skills

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Tailoring, and revising as necessary, existing AF Range Safety User Requirements as contained within the volumes of the Air Force Space Command (AFSPC) Manual 91-710
    • Identifying and conveying SLS/Orion mission needs to the 45 SW.
    • Ensuring SLS Flight Termination System (FTS) test requirements are satisfied
    • Coordination with the 45 SW to ensure ER systems and assets are implemented and ready to support SLS Artemis 1 mission needs.
    • Monitor Range Safety Checkout System (RSCS) development, testing, verification and validation to ensure compliance with USAF Range Safety requirements.
    • Develop the Program Requirements Document (PRD) for the EM-1 and all follow-on missions for the EGS Program utilizing the DoD Range Commander’s Council (RCC) Universal Documentation System (UDS) for all activities on Federal Ranges.
    • Participate in a number of weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly meetings with various organizations within the 45 SW and ER, Air Force Space Command, NASA HQ, the Orion and SLS Programs, and within EGS including but not limited to the Level II Human Exploration Range Safety Panel (HERSP) and Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs)
    • Support EGS Range Team development activities required to deliver a Range Interface capability for EGS Missions, including operational concepts, requirements, and schedules.
    • Maintaining a good working relationship with the on-going changing AFSPC leadership
    • Ensuring the capabilities of the Ops Safety console are in place for AF Range safety to successfully monitor ground systems, flight vehicle and range systems for meeting public safety requirements during Wet Dress Rehearsal (WDR) and Launch.
    • Review Change Requests (CR) and new documents for impacts to the Range Element.
    • Assist in developing, managing and closing requirements and verification and validation entries in the EGS Cradle database for Range projects, as necessary.
    • Thorough understanding and knowledge of the volumes of the AFSPC Manual 91-710 including the process for tailoring the requirements as necessary to support the EGS program needs.
    • Understanding of and experience with the UDS including the process for developing, releasing, modifying, and closing PRDs, PSPs, ORs, and ODs.
    • Understanding of the Range Configuration including Range capabilities.
    • Understanding of the EGS, SLS, and Orion programs and their inter-relationships.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel are necessary.

     

    Preferred  Qualifications:

     

    • Previous leadership experience or recognition as an expert with Range Safety is desired.
    • Proficiency with other Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, and Access is desired
    • Effective and clear concise communication with the ability to present technical issues clearly and concisely to review boards.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work within a team environment co-located within the customers office, flexible in handling changing work demands.
    • Good organization skills to balance and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment
    • Operate with minimal direct supervision

    Required Experience

    MS degree in engineering discipline with 20 or more years of related experience or BS degree in engineering discipline with 22 or more years of related experience.
