The Opportunity:
We are looking for Lead Software Engineer who embrace solving complex challenges on a global scale. As a Lead Software Engineer, you will be an integral part of a multi-functional development team inventing, designing, building, and testing software products that reach a truly global customer base. While building components of powerful payment technology, you will get to see your efforts shaping the digital future of monetary transactions.
The Work itself:
Design code and systems that touch 40% of the world population while influencing Visa’s internal standards for scalability, security, and reusability
Collaborate multi-functionally to create design artifacts and develop best-in-class software solutions for multiple Visa technical offerings
Actively contribute to product quality improvements, valuable service technology, and new business flows in diverse agile squads
Develop robust and scalable products intended for a myriad of customers including end-user merchants, b2b, and business to government solutions.
Leverage innovative technologies to build the next generation of Commercial Payment Services.

Essential Functions:
Demonstrates relevant technical working knowledge to understand requirements.
Work with Product owners, architects and other relevant stakeholders to gather and refine requirements for one or more products, taking in to account the existing tools and solutions across departments.
Translates functional requirements into system designs for one or more components and communicates how the components will interact.
Demonstrates understanding of non-functional requirements (NFR) and their impact on the system. Leads junior engineers in understanding requirements.
Design, Code, test, document and implement new applications & as well as existing programs.
Develop code that complies with design specifications and meets security and coding best practices.
Work independently and provide guidance to junior developers.
Work with team members on technical software development issues, problem analysis and resolution.
Participate in design and code review sessions as appropriate - to ensure the quality of work delivered by teammates is in accordance with development standards.
Write automation scripts to functionally automate the testing.
Learn and adopt technologies, like generative AI, that provide developer productivity improvements.
Engages with product engineering teams and product owners during code/design reviews, regular meetings, on-call rotations, and incident responses throughout product development and operations cycles.
Leverages advanced knowledge of systems/platforms and telemetry analyses to propose isolated improvements in code, processes, and designs to deliver on customer/business objectives more effectively.
This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
•10+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 7 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 4 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 13+ years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
•12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
•Master's degree in Math, Science, Engineering, or Computer Science, Information Systems or related field AND minimum seven (7) years experience
OR Bachelor's degree in Math, Science, Engineering, or AND minimum nine (9) years experience OR Minimum twelve (12) years of experience.
•Extensive experience in software engineering and architectural design for highly scalable and always-on distributed systems.
•Proven expertise in the payment’s domain, with in-depth knowledge of commercial cards, Identity, 3DS, and other payment technologies like PSPs, PayFaqs, among others
•Demonstrated experience in leading and delivering complex projects from concept to deployment.
•Proficiency in agile development methodologies and practices
Technical Skills:
•Experience with large-scale systems with both VM and Container based multi data-center (active active) solutions, external 3rd parties such as Akamai, Cloud Fare, etc.
•Extensive technical experience with full stack HTTP, JAVA REST APls, JSON, databases, Spring, Java and web frameworks at scale.
•Experience with both NoSQL and SQL data stores including Redis, HazelCast, MySQL, MSSQL or similar
•Proficiency in leveraging generative AI to enhance development processes and resource efficiency.
•Excellent analytical and problem-solving aptitude.
Leadership & Communication:
•Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire and lead cross-functional teams.
•Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders: clients, Architects, Business/Products, etc.
•Ability to interface effectively with senior leadership, providing clear and concise updates on project vision and progress.
•Experience with Visa’s (or other payment brand's) products and services.
•Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements in the payments industry.
Additional Information
Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.
Travel Requirements: This position requires travel5-10% of the time.
Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 178,400.00 to 258,750.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
