    POSITION OVERVIEW

    This position manages the origination of corn and manages local sales programs of finished products/byproducts of a dry mill ethanol plant. Additional responsibilities include fundamental analysis of local grain market dynamics and competitor business, as well as supervision of the Norfolk commercial/clerical office staff. Provides leadership and direction for the commercial staff at the facility and manages the origination of corn, the development of local balance sheets. This role also is responsible for customer/supplier development and the coordination of logistics/staging operations.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & DUTIES

    ****ACT AS A LEADER FOR YOUR TEAM TO DRIVE LOCAL BUY AND SELL ACTIVITIES OF A DRY-MILL ETHANOL FACILITY. DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

    • Manages the origination of corn by developing rapport with the local farming community through direct communication and by working closely with members of the commercial grain industry; ensures aggressive corn origination and continuous customer contact.
    • Develops local balance sheets by estimating the usage of corn in the area and identifying the major end-users and yield ratio
    • Manages local sales programs of finished products/byproducts, including supervision of the Norfolk commercial/clerical office staff.
    • Develops suppliers/customers for inputs/outputs through research, relationships and marketing.
    • Oversees the coordination of marketing and physical plant supply logistics.

    Additional Responsibilities

    • Develops customer lists and wet distillers’ grains marketing through research and networking with the local farming community and agribusiness.
    • Constructs transportation spreadsheets & corn drawing arch analysis through research and analysis.
    • Commences daily bids by generating bid sheets to show what buyers are willing to pay for corn.
    • Rolls out contracts for purchase of corn and distillers’ grain sales.

    Required Skills

    Successful candidates must have familiarity with industrial processing operations, strong verbal and written communication skills, advanced proficiency with spreadsheet and work-processing software (Microsoft Office products)

    Required Experience

    Qualified candidates will possess at least 5 years of experience merchandising and marketing grain commodities. Experience managing logistics and supply chains is also needed.
