  • Responsibilities

    Louis Dreyfus Company, a privately held firm involved primarily in the international trading and merchandising of agricultural commodities, is seeking an Internal Auditor. The Internal Audit Department of Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC) North America based in Wilton, CT is responsible to perform financial and operational audits across the North America Region (US and Canada). The Internal Auditor is primarily responsible for planning and executing audit engagements that assess effectiveness of the company’s control environment and efficiency of its processes, as well as validation of corrective actions, together with the Internal Audit Manager. The Internal Auditor should demonstrate a strong capacity to adapt to different business environments, and be able to work closely and partner with trading and operating company management. The Internal Audit Department is seeking for an auditor well versed or willing to learn quickly data analytics, as the department wants to sustain the integrated audit approach that it has developed through the use of data analytics tool (ACL). The Internal Auditor will have a direct reporting responsibility and accountability to the North America Internal Audit Manager.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Participate in the construction of an adequate audit plan, with the region and the functions
    • Work with the NAM IA manager to identify key resources to assist in performing audits, including guest auditors
    • Participate in internal audits throughout the region led by the NAM IA manager
    • Perform walkthroughs of key processes to validate process documentation and assess risks around internal controls, with limited supervision
    • Ensure quality and proper documentation of audit work papers produced at all audit phases
    • Identify and assess accurately the impact of control deficiencies and process inefficiencies, and articulate effective and value-added recommendations from a control and business standpoint
    • Gain auditees’ agreement on root cause of issues and appropriate corrective actions while maintaining positive relationships
    • Ability to compile and interpret key data points that will facilitate a risk based approach to implementing and maintaining a strong internal control environment
    • Contribute to department improvement initiatives
    • Participate in Continuous Control Management, i.e. being able to identify weak controls that can be mitigated by IT automated controls and to implement them
    • Present audit findings and recommendations through closing meetings and status updates to the company management
    • Ensure effective and efficient execution of audits in conformance with professional and department standards, budgets and timeline
    • Ability to apply good judgment and decision-making skills in helping management prioritize and determine the most important risks that they need to focus on;
    • Must be comfortable working in ambiguous and/or stressful situations;

    • Be able to work independently with limited supervision as well as coach other auditors on ad-hoc basis and work in a team when needed.

    Required Skills Required Experience

    THE FOLLOWING ARE THE REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or other relevant areas of study
    • 1-3 years or more experience with an external audit firm “Big 4” or in an internal audit function as auditor or IT auditor.
    • Fluent in English;
    • Flexible, able to change priorities quickly, and have the capacity to handle multiple tasks simultaneously;

    THE FOLLOWING ARE THE PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Working knowledge or strong will to learn quickly how to leverage capacity of Data Analytics software (ACL) in audit works;
    • Basic knowledge in the following audit cycles: Maintenance, Capex, Inventory management, Logistics, Production management, HSE;
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills to deliver high quality, actionable feedback on variety of complex technical issues along the management line;
    • Knowledge or experience in either commodity trading house or banking industry or large manufacturing company;
