  • Responsibilities

    This position is responsible for performing daily and monthly financial accounting activities for the merchandising and production entities for an international commodity trading firm. This position will prepare and post most journal entries, complete monthly budget vs. actual analysis over operating expenditures and reconciliation of daily activities to month end accounting results.

    Required Skills

    • Knowledge of General Ledger accounting practices, specifically account reconciliations, accruals and journal entries applicable to for-profit businesses
    • Intermediate level of proficiency in MS Excel
    • Ability to work independently and effectively prioritize multiple tasks to accommodate strict deadlines
    • Strong analytical skills

    Typical office equipment: PC, telephone, copier, calculator

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    Climate-controlled office environment, with exposure to fast-paced trading floor. Extensions of regular working hours are necessary to complete time-sensitive projects, attend training or to respond to emergencies.

    DECISION MAKING/ACCOUNTABILITY

    Perform most daily and monthly financial accounting tasks for the Merchandising entities, with oversight from Senior Accountant. Reconciling accounts, analyzing accruals and resolving discrepancies pertaining to account reconciliations and other financial issues.

    Required Experience

    EXPERIENCE

    The following is the basic qualification:

    • one to five years of experience in accounting or related discipline.

     

    EDUCATION/PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
