ABOUT THE JOB:

The Workers’ Compensation Collector will be responsible for the timely follow up and reimbursement of claims filed by the Billing Department. The Workers’ Compensation Collector will have oversight of the accounts receivable and be responsible for maintaining detailed and accurate account documentation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Actively follow up and collect on all paper and electronic claims, including resolution of any billing errors assigned following established procedures

• Respond to correspondence from insurance carriers or defense attorneys to facilitate payment.

• Follow-up on unpaid/underpaid claims. Creating appeals ensuring that all appeals processes are followed to obtaining full reimbursement

• Perform any other tasks assigned by management

• Escalation of payer issues to supervisor

• Prepare any necessary documentation

• Work independently from assigned work lists

Required Skills:

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Strong understanding of occupational medicine billing and collections
• Employee Paid Services knowledge a plus
• Knowledge of the State of Illinois Workers’ Comp. Laws and Regulations a plus
• Ability to file Appeals
• Ability to work with adjusters, insurance companies and attorneys to resolve claims to maximize reimbursement.
• Ability to research state legal codes & regulations for Worker’s Compensation in Illinois, Indiana and Nebraska.
• High-energy, self-motivated, and performance-driven
• Strong Organizational skills, attention to details
• Working knowledge of the insurance industry and medical terminology
• Proven problem-solving skills and excellent communication skills
• Excellent customer service and telephone etiquette skills
• Knowledge of Excel and Word
• Ability to navigate specific billing software
• Ability to work in a team environment

REQUIRED EDUCATION

• Lab and Clinical Instructors require a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing with 4000 hours of Professional Nursing clinical experience within  5 years.

PREFERRED EDUCATION

• Master’s Degree in Nursing/Nursing Education from a regionally accredited college/university.
