    American Express’ Global Advertising & Brand Management (GABM) team is responsible for creating marketplace demand and driving commerce for American Express through differentiated and innovative branding, marketing and experiences. Within GABM sits the Global Brand Content & Media team who is responsible for building best in class brand content across channels and audiences (including Amex’s internal creative agency, OnBrand), driving impact and innovation through global media and analytics, and delivering cultural and brand platforms that bring the Powerful Backing of American Express to life.

    The Manager of US Media - Investment & Optimization manages strategic partner and platform media buys for Above-The-Line media channels, ensuring our media investments, commitments, and inventory align to our strategy and best-in-class buying standards. They will work hand in hand with the Media Strategy & Planning team, Media agency, Media Analytics, and media partners to translate media strategy & plans into market-ready buys, steward investment delivery, and identify opportunities to maximize value, quality, and performance in market.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Support for US Above-The-Line media investments across channels, with emphasis on Linear TV, Streaming, and Social channels, ensuring buys align to approved strategy, audience priorities, budget, flighting, and performance goals.
    • Continuously track commitments, pacing, delivery, guarantees, added value, makegoods, and optimization opportunities throughout the campaign lifecycle.
    • Evaluate new media opportunities and partner proposals to ensure quality, efficiency, audience fit, reach/frequency, measurement readiness, and brand safety.
    • Maintain a strong understanding of the media marketplace, including channel currencies, pricing dynamics, buying cycles, partner capabilities, emerging formats, and marketplace innovation.
    • Partner with Media Analytics, Strategy & Planning, and agency teams to monitor performance, share investment learnings, and inform in-flight optimizations and future planning.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Direct experience managing, negotiating, and stewarding large-scale media buys and media investments required.
    • Live sports media buying or sponsorship-led media investment experience required, including familiarity with seasonality, rights-holder packages, and media partner offerings.
    • Experience working with media agencies required; agency background or hands-on buying experience strongly preferred.
    • Knowledge of media investment fundamentals, including CPM, CPP/GRP/TRP, impressions, reach/frequency, audience guarantees, delivery pacing, and post-buy reporting.
    • Ability to track investment details, budgets, partner commitments, and campaign delivery with a high level of accuracy and accountability.
    • Strong partner management skills with proven ability to influence and negotiate across complex media plans
    • Ability to distill complex marketplace, investment, and performance information into clear recommendations and structured communications.
    • Collaborative spirit and comfort working in a matrixed environment across Strategy & Planning, Analytics, Finance, Legal, Procurement, agency teams, and media partners.
