Job Summary: Located in downtown Omaha, Markel Corporation is a Fortune 500 Company Insurance holding company for insurance, reinsurance and investment operations around the world. Markel is currently seeking highly motivated, ambitious individuals to join our Specialty Sales team as Account Executives. The Account Executive is the foundation of Markels Sales program and is the entry point into an exciting, challenging and rewarding Sales career. The Account Executive is responsible for promoting sales and increasing market share in assigned territories. In collaboration with Outside Sales Managers and Underwriters, Account Executives work with our network of Independent Insurance Agencies to retain and increase their business, and to scout out new accounts. Training: As you start your Sales career at Markel, all Account Executives are required to participate in a comprehensive Sales training program. Our Sales team provides the resources and training opportunities to be knowledgeable about Markel Specialty Commercial sales and underwriting strategies. The programs lasts 1 month so that you are set up for success in your career path. Career Advancement: Our goal is to provide the training and sales opportunities so that Markels top Account Executives grow and become promoted within 18-36 months. Compensation: (Range: $47.5K-60K) We offer a base salary with commission and an annual bonus potential on top of your annual base. Office Location and Travel: This position will be based in Omaha, NE with travel to your assigned territory and other offices in the United States. During travel, you will accompany Sales Managers to their agency meetings to obtain a solid understanding of the outside sales process. Responsibilities: Act as liaison between agents and internal departments. Place outgoing calls to agents to follow up on quotes, renewal accounts and retread accounts. Generate leads in existing states and new states. Generate new business and establish new accounts to produce profitable premium. Conduct telephone research into new markets to gather data about competitors and market conditions. Communicate pricing inefficiencies to Underwriters and Sales Managers. Travel to assigned territories to promote Markel and to support Markels outside Sales Managers. Collaborate with outside Sales Managers to represent Markel at conventions and seminars. Qualifications: Bachelors degree required, business related preferred. 1-2 years of prior sales or customer service experience preferred. Strong oral and written communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Power Point. Experience with Internet-based systems. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change Must be willing to travel to various office locations (approx 1-2 weeks per month).
