The Market Risk Intmd Analyst is a developing professional role focusing on supporting market risk data used by risk management professionals charged with oversight of the firm’s trading business. This role is globally focused and interfaces with both internal and external partners domestically and internationally. Applies industry, technical and functional subject matter expertise, contributing to the development of new processes, policies, tools and deliverables or the improvement of existing ones. Requires ability to learn and understand how areas collectively integrate within the market risk data function and the end-to-end impacts within the firm. Requires good analytical skills in order to filter, prioritize and validate potentially complex and dynamic material from multiple sources. Strong communication and diplomacy skills are required. May assumes informal leadership role within teams as experience increases.
The Risk Control & Data Analytics department supporting market risk is responsible for data stewardship. This role will focus on data stewardship/governance and will join a team of other data analysts that are responsible for daily market risk data quality controls, processes and deliverables. The analyst will oversee and support a particular trading business and partner with risk management, risk reporting, risk technology and others teams to improve market risk data quality.
Responsibilities:
Through the function supported, directly assists efforts to provide accurate, complete, timely and reliable risk data to customers, partners, shareholders and regulators, grounded in developing and instituting the most efficient processes and critical deliverables.
Assists in defining and establishing appropriate data standards, understanding the data needs of regulatory and internal reporting, the acquisition of that data, the financial reconciliation and Data Quality measurement of that data and remediation of issues at source.
Works to ensure that functions are compliant with Citigroup Data Management Policy.
Participates in preparing regular and time-sensitive ad-hoc deliverables and updates to partners, management and other stakeholders.
Revises and updates department policies and procedures as required.
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications:
2-5 years of experience in Risk, Finance or related fields.
Experience in data and/or reporting focused roles is a plus.
Knowledge of banking/financial products, trading and market risk is a plus.
Advanced Business Analyst skills including knowledge of Microsoft Access databases, Microsoft Excel and other Office software is required.
Strong communication skills, including verbal, written and presentation.
Comparable experience from non-banking industries for other-wise qualified individuals will be considered.
Demonstrated ability to work independently or as a member of a team to accomplish goals.
Education:
Minimum Bachelors/University degree or equivalent required; MS/MBA or equivalent is a plus.
Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics is a plus.
