    JOB DESCRIPTION

    The U.S. Consumer Services Team is responsible for our suite of consumer products, services, and experiences in the U.S., including our premium, cobrand, cash back, and lending portfolios, Membership Rewards, Global Travel & Lifestyle Services, the Centurion Lounge network, our Global Dining and Resy businesses, U.S. Consumer Banking, and best-in-class marketing programs across customer, prospect, and partner channels. The USCS team is focused on making membership an indisputable competitive advantage and helping each other become better leaders every day.

    The U.S. Consumer Marketing team (USCM) is part of the U.S. Consumer Services Group and is responsible for making membership essential by creating and delivering outstanding marketing for our differentiated products and services that drives demand and inspires engaged Card Members across the customer lifecycle.

    The Marketing Director, Paid Mediais responsible for leading the paid media and creative strategy to drive strong acquisition results across the U.S. Consumer portfolio. The role will define how American Express shows up across an evolving paid media landscape by expanding into new formats and channels - including video, audio, and social-first experiences - and developing strategies to influence AI- and LLM-driven consumer discovery. This highly visible role partners across Marketing, Brand, Product, Analytics, and agency teams to drive innovation and business growth.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Define and evolve USCM's paid media strategy, investment approach, and operating model to support enterprise growth priorities across Consumer products and services.
    • Own media performance across a broad portfolio, driving efficient customer acquisition through optimization, testing, measurement, and investment management.
    • Shape the future of paid media by advancing media creative strategy, expanding into emerging channels and formats, and developing strategies for AI- and LLM-driven consumer discovery.
    • Lead strategic partnerships with media and creative agencies, fostering innovation, accountability, and operational excellence.
    • Partner closely with Analytics and cross-functional stakeholders to develop robust measurement frameworks, learning agendas, and performance insights that drive continuous improvement.
    • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team while fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • 10+ years of experience leading paid media, performance marketing, or digital marketing strategies with a proven track record of driving business growth.
    • Demonstrated success leading high-performing teams, agency partners, and cross-functional stakeholders in a highly matrixed organization.
    • Deep expertise in performance marketing, investment management, optimization, measurement, and creative strategy that drives business performance.
    • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable business recommendations and executive narratives.
    • Excellent communication and executive influencing skills, with the ability to build alignment across diverse stakeholders.
    • Experience within a highly regulated industry preferred.
    • Bachelor's Degree required.
