The Opportunity

The Global Investment Management Distribution (“GIMD”) team provides integrated sales and marketing support across Mesirow Financial’s institutional investment management businesses. GIMD provides distribution capabilities globally out of our Chicago, London and Hong Kong offices and currently supports six alternative and traditional investment management businesses including hedge fund strategies, private equity, real estate, currency management, equity management and fixed income management.

As a subset of GIMD, the marketing team supports in new business creation, client retention, and relationship management. The team is responsible for requests for proposals and pitch books for new prospect opportunities; due diligence questionnaires, presentations and data updates for existing clients and consultants; and maintaining the data and content necessary to complete these requests. Additionally, the team is involved in a variety of market updates and investor education deliverables, as well as maintaining the brand consistency across all marketing and communications collateral.

This internship provides exposure to a wide variety of asset classes and marketing strategies while working in a collegial, fast-paced, entrepreneurial financial services organization. We are looking for a candidate with a strong intellectual curiosity, a balance between creative and analytical capabilities and who is a team player.

We are looking for someone to join our team in spring 2018 to work part-time during the school year and to continue throughout the summer full-time.

Responsibilities:

• Help coordinate client investment presentations, prospect presentations for new investments, fund/investment fact sheets, RFPs, and marketing sales tools for business development professionals
• Assist with project management tasks including workflow tracking, production and distribution of deliverables, and client relationship management system maintenance
• Fact-check material to ensure accuracy, proof/edit, and standardize the branding and formatting
• Maintain and distribute internal reports and other data for firm-wide use
• Opportunities to assist with planning and executing client events, media relations, design of electronic and print client communications, content creation, and other tasks as appropriate
• Other marketing and communications related projects as requested
• Additionally, the intern may be asked to participate in special projects related to these areas of the business.

Requirements:

• Attendance at a Chicago area school
• Graduation in 2019 or 2020 preferred
• Minimum GPA: 3.0
• Marketing, Accounting or Finance major preferred
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Team player with strong interpersonal skills
• Client focused mindset
• Intellectual curiosity with the desire to learn and grow
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
