Formed in 1974, Harvard Management Company (“HMC”) manages Harvard University's endowment and related financial assets. Our singular mission is to help ensure Harvard University has the financial resources to maintain and expand its leadership in teaching, learning, and research for future generations. The endowment is managed by a highly experienced generalist investment team whose members each take ownership of the entire portfolio, regardless of asset class. HMC's operational structure brings a wide range of expertise to our portfolio management. These functions include risk management, legal, compliance, finance and accounting, human resources and administrative services as well as information technology to develop and implement the systems necessary to support our investment activities.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Review daily transactions and valuation updates for Private Equity, Real Estate, and Hedge Fund portfolios
• Provide direction and guidance to HMC’s fund administrator on their execution of transactions and valuations to ensure accounting and performance records are maintained accurately and timely
• Prioritize cash management, reviewing wire instructions, ensuring correct funding of capital calls, and receipt of cash distributions
• Monitor pipeline activity and work closely with the investment, operations, and legal team to execute the closing of new fund and direct investment opportunities and to support the overall investment lifecycle
• Assist with the annual valuation process for Private Equity Direct Investment portfolio:
  • Review manager financial statements for valuation support
  • Work with third party valuation service providers
  • Track valuation updates and changes
  • Prepare final valuation reporting for management

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or a related field

· Demonstrated record of academic achievement; must be a rising junior or senior

· Experience with MS Excel preferred

· Strong interpersonal and communication (both oral and written) skills

· Ability to handle multiple tasks at once with accuracy and attention to detail

· Strong work ethic and professional attitude

· Team player who prioritizes success of the team over individual achievements

· Unquestionable ethical standards

OTHER DETAILS:

· The FLSA classification for this position is non-exempt.

· HMC will not sponsor applicants for work visas for this position.

· HMC is operating on a hybrid work model where interns are expected to be in the office in downtown Boston from Tuesday to Thursday and remote on other days.
