Department Profile The Finance Division reports to the Chief Financial Officer and consists of some 3,000 employees worldwide. Finance protects the Morgan Stanley franchise by serving as guardian of the Firm?s books and records and by contributing to Firm-wide risk management and risk reduction. This division maintains relationships with Morgan Stanley's various industry and government regulators and also serves as the conduit of financial information to the outside investment community. Finance plays a critical role as advisor to Morgan Stanley's various businesses and its senior management team. Team Profile The Morgan Stanley Valuation Review Group (VRG) provides an independent valuation opinion across the entire spectrum of financial instruments within the Firm's sales and trading inventory and proprietary investment portfolio, ranging from vanilla products to the most complex structured and derivative transactions. The team leverages its diverse quantitative skill set and intimate product expertise to act as a guardian and approver of valuation methodology. The group's key clients are senior trading management and senior Finance management. The team is mandated to perform an independent valuation assessment on the diverse range of financial products. This process involves the certification of models and their valuation methodologies, testing for adherence to such methodologies, evaluating internal valuation marks against external benchmarks, identification and resolution of valuation discrepancies, and communicating a valuation assessment to senior management. The Valuation Review Group is also involved in the continuous enhancements of the valuation control infrastructure with a view towards global and cross- product standardization. Primary Responsibilities - Coordinator / liaison within the COO team involved in major production components each function, including Risk, Projects, Reporting and Administrative - Support divisional and Finance COO agenda as well as Firmwide strategic initiatives on behalf of VRG - Serve as the subject-matter-expert and lead tester / coordinator for all systems related to Projects & Budgeting, Risk, resources and other Mark Review reporting applications - Assist with the divisional operating model and location strategy responsibilities - Support the VRG Risk space with RCSA, Operational Risk Incidents, Audit items, and other regulatory requests - Assist with Finance initiative budgeting process, resource management, project management, and prioritization within the Projects function - Facilitate and organize scheduling of reporting deadlines required for daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly Mark Reviews, fair value disclosures and additional ad-hoc requests - Produce resourcing updates, expense reports, activity-based costing deliverables, organizational charts, and metrics / analytics for Finance and VRG senior managementSkills Required - Bachelor's degree and 2-5 years of work experience - Technology Skillset - excellent knowledge of MS Excel and PowerPoint - Strong written, verbal and presentation skills - Exceptional work ethic and positive attitude - Ability to work effectively within the team or independently - Effectively interface and partner with all levels within the division, other firm organizations, etc. - Innovate mindset with an interest in process improvement - Attention to detail with proven problem solving and trouble shooting skills - Works effectively under pressure and deadlines - Ability and willingness to adapt to new challenges and functions in a dynamic environment Skills Desired - Good understanding of financial markets and products - Experience working in a Finance division (i.e. Product Control, Valuation Review) - VBA programming knowledge **Primary Location: **Americas-United States of America-New York-New York **Work Locations: ** **Job: **Finance **Organization: **Morgan Stanley **Job Posting: **Apr 23, 2018
