    ABOUT THE JOB:

    National Community Renaissance is committed to transforming the neighborhoods we work in and the lives of the residents we serve. The Assistant Vice President reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Human Resources. The Assistant Vice President is directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination, and evaluation of the human resources department.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Annually reviews and makes recommendations to executive management for improvement of the agency's policies, procedures and practices on personnel matters.
    • Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensures agency's compliance.
    • Maintains responsibility for agency compliance with federal and state legislation pertaining to all personnel matters.
    • Communicates changes in agency personnel policies and procedures and ensures proper compliance is followed.
    • Assists executive management in the annual review, preparation and administration of agency wage and salary program. Coordinates or conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separation.
    • Consults with legal counsel as appropriate, or as directed by the Vice President of Human Resources on personnel matters.
    • Works directly with department managers to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters.
    • Recommends, evaluates and participates in staff development for the company.
    • Develops and maintains a human resource system that meets CORE personnel information needs.
    • Work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Must attend Company sponsored events that relate to the development of the team, which, from time to time, may include overnight stays at locations away from the employee's home.
    • Foster and promote team spirit with staff members.

    SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

    • Thorough knowledge of HR related programs, policies, benefits, and services; strong knowledge of regulatory requirements related to employment, payment of wages, hours worked, etc.
    • Must possess a hard-working, positive attitude and the drive and commitment to provide superior service to the internal team as well as our external customers and partners.
    • Ability to lead teams in a manner that supports the company's goals and core values along with the ability to exercise sound judgment and decision making.
    • Ability to work with and understand persons of all ethnic and family backgrounds.
    • Ability to work within approved annual budgets.
    • Must possess excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
    • Demonstrate initiative, personal awareness, professionalism, integrity and exercise confidentiality in all areas in human resources.
    • Thorough knowledge of HR related programs, policies, benefits, and services; strong knowledge of regulatory requirements related to employment, payment of wages, hours worked, etc.
    • Additional qualifications include strong process management and organizational skills with excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills; flexibility and adaptability in a changing business environment; and ability to be creative, astute, and able to influence and drive decisions.
    • Demonstrated record of achievement in a high-volume work environment while maintaining excellent customer service attitude.
    • Strong organizational and communication skills.
    • Strong computer skills.

    EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

    • Requires 5-10 years of human resources experience with at least 5 years of exempt level experience.
    • 5 years of experience in supervising multiple staff members.
    • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Human Resources.
    • SPHR, PHR or SHRM-CP Certification or advanced degree required.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

    • Operate computer and office equipment.
    • Work is primarily sedentary in nature.
    • Must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
