Job Description

We are looking for a React / Node Software Development Engineer who is motivated to combine the art of design with the art of programming. Responsibilities will include translation of the UI/UX design to actual code that will produce visual elements of the application. You will work with our marketing department to bridge the gap between graphical design and technical implementation, taking an active role in defining how the websites/applications look as well as how they work. This role also involves collaborating with our product team to properly prioritize new features and improvements.

We do offer this role as a fully WFH position in AZ, CA, CO, and UT, but we would love to find candidates in the San Diego / Orange County area, which is where most of our engineering team is located. We'd love to see you at our company events, happy-hours, end-of-month taco days, and our incredible year-end holiday parties (in 2021 we had three of those!) ****

What National Funding is looking for:

• 4+ years of technical experience in a frontend engineering role
• Highly proficient in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Node
• Strong history of cross-functional collaboration with Marketing and/or other non-technical teams
• Experience turning mockups into responsive, accessible, tested code
• Well-structured, easily maintainable, well-documented code
• Passionate about creating inclusive, accessible experiences for everyone
• Familiar with emerging trends in frontend web application development, including the various approaches to styling (CSS Modules, CSS-in-JS, Sass, Tailwind, etc.), accessibility tooling (aXe, Lighthouse), and static site generation (NextJS, Gatsby)

Day-to-day responsibilities:

• Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs
• Collaborate with stakeholders to build and maintain our frontend experiences using – but not limited to – Javascript, React, GraphQL, CSS, and HTML
• Optimize application for maximum speed and scalability
• Develop new user-facing features for our customer-facing sites (Gatsby)

Skills And Qualifications:

• Proficient understanding of React, Node and SASS
• Proficient understanding of AJAX AND CORS
• Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them.
• Proficient understanding of Git
• Proficient understanding of Terminal (bash, zsh)
• Good understanding of SEO principles and ensuring that application will adhere to them.
• Basic knowledge of image authoring tools, to be able to crop, resize, or perform small adjustments on an image. Familiarity with tools such as Photoshop is a plus.
• Knowledge of Gatsby or NextJS a bonus
• Knowledge of GraphQL a bonus
• Knowledge of Wordpress a bonus
