The primary purpose of this position is to act as a resource and serve as an integral member of the Underwriting and Support teams able to research underwriting scenarios, provide support through our credit review and respond to internal requests for support related to underwriting requirements, workflow issues and credit policy exceptions utilizing our policies and procedures and defined support workflow and system.

THIS POSITION IS 100% REMOTE

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Research and respond to guideline inquiries providing the highest level of support
• Provide scenario and guideline assistance
• Provide assistance related to property standard exceptions
• Assist with Credit review research and response
• Address and resolve inquiries received through Support, Credit, or through other inputs related to Underwriting guidelines from internal associates including Sales, Processors, Underwriters, and Transaction Management.
• Evaluate and identify areas for improvement including updating and maintaining existing training materials.
• Ensure training materials and programs are compliant with the laws and regulations governing the mortgage Industry.
• Seek out new ways to keep training current and engaging.
• Create targeted learning solutions for specific departments with support of SMEs leveraging various methods of training delivery (videos, job aids, etc.)
• Utilize and maintain various platforms to distribute training content including our SharePoint
• Partner with managers to monitor/ensure that employees are performing job duties properly while identifying and addressing related training needs.

JOB COMPETENCIES:

• Effectively communicate and provide support to all internal team members.
• Serve as subject matter expert for Central Support team by gathering information on behalf of the underwriters, answering questions, resolving low complexity issues.
• Design and maintain effective training collateral by collaborating with Subject Matter Experts and/or other stakeholders, including external vendors.
• Effectively manage multiple demands and competing priorities and bring professional and clear resolution to escalations, unresolved issues, or open inquiries.
• Provide guidance with a positive, collaborative mindset, offering extreme stewardship to each internal counter-party. The team member working in this role must embody and embrace the responsibility of being an advocate for our borrowers and team members. This role must ensure that while a resolution is being provided, we offer training, coaching, and support to each Nations Lending team member we encounter.
• Develop effective professional partnerships with all colleagues, namely processing and sales.
• Create strategies to evaluate job performance and providing coaching feedback to new hires and his/her manager.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

• 3-5 years of Mortgage Underwriting experience
• Sound judgment skills essential to making quick decisions within written policy and standard operating procedures
• Knowledge of where to find and how to use FNMA/FHLMC/USDA/VA/HUD guidelines.
• Ability to adapt well to frequently changing guidelines.
• Demonstrate mentorship skills
• Demonstrate responsibilities for multi-faceted direction and planning; must be a fast-paced individual
• Strong aptitude for detail, with a sense of urgency relative to task completion and timeliness.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills
• Ability to take direction and comprehend training
• Ability to work closely within a team structure
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite, specifically Word and Excel
• High school diploma or equivalent

• FHA, VA, USDA Loan: 1 year (Preferred)
