Test Lab Technician - Appliances and Cookware Atlanta, Georgia, United States - Position Title: Test Lab Technician Location: Atlanta, GA Reports To: Manager, Test Engineering Summary: The Test Lab Technician will be responsible for evaluation and performance testing of components and finished products. The Test Lab Technician collaborates with the R&D Engineering team, and Advanced Concepts Engineering Team to test submissions of new and updated parts or assemblies for company products. The Test Lab Technician will also be responsible for documenting findings and communicates to the cross-functional and new product development team. Test Lab Technician will also help out with duties as defined by the R&D Test Engineer. Responsibilities: - Performs physical and visual inspections of components and product assemblies to verify conformance to specifications and product drawings. - Performs performance-based testing of components and assemblies using defined test procedures - Performs testing of competitive products to benchmark characteristics and performance. - Performs measurements (hand and automated) of complex parts, raw materials, and assemblies - Records test results and documents in a written test report summary. - Perform testing on automated test equipment. - Program PLCs to perform cycle testing. - Work with Test Engineer to help build fixtures, while providing design input. - Maintains records of product evaluations. - Provides test summary to cross functional team. - Maintains samples / sample identification for finished goods. - Supervise contract test technicians. - Provide testing schedules and organize incoming test samples for test requests. - Maintains test lab equipment list and calibration schedule - Associate Degree in a technical discipline or 2 years applicable experience - 3+ years of experience in a test lab function - Ability to reliably and repeatedly follow written procedures when performing inspection and test work - Proficient in the use of hand tools and measuring instruments (force gages, calipers, micrometers, etc.) - Experience with the use of automated measurement/test equipment (i.e. Micro-Vu, CMM, Instron, XRF, Gas Chromatograph, color spectrophotometer) a plus - Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications - Ability to determine proper measurement methods (process and equipment) utilizing engineering drawings and/or specifications - PLC programming knowledge a plus - Experience in working with electro-mechanical components - Possess a knowledge of kitchen cooking techniques - Possesses good communication skills (written and verbal) - Proficient with MS Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint - Respect all safety precautions regarding performance testing, moving test equipment and chemical handling. - Must be able to stand and work for extended periods of time - Must be able to lift at least 35lbs Newell Brands (NYSE: NWL) is a leading global consumer goods company with a strong portfolio of well-known brands, including Paper Mate, Sharpie, Dymo, EXPO, Parker, Elmers, Coleman, Jostens, Marmot, Rawlings, Oster, Sunbeam, FoodSaver, Mr. Coffee, Rubbermaid Commercial Products, Graco, Baby Jogger, NUK, Calphalon, Rubbermaid, Contigo, First Alert, Waddington and Yankee Candle.
