    Logistics Specialist Shelbyville, Tennessee, United States - POSITION TITLE: Logistics Specialist LOCATION: Shelbyville, TN REPORTS TO: Sr. Manager, Logistics SHIFT: 7:30am 4:00pm, Monday thru Friday The Logistics Specialist is responsible for managing/monitoring transportation business processes (i.e. Procurement, Order Management, Shipment Planning & Execution) to ensure that solutions are meeting customer requirements. This position will handle repeatable analysis and tasks driving continuous cost and service improvement by recommending and implementing stated improvements. Position will require both customer and carrier interfacing. Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager including but not limited to Over, Short, and Damaged processing, Track and Trace, etc. Responsibilities Daily communication with customers and carriers regarding pick-up schedules, shipment count, and follow-up on all prior day missed shipments. Management of sales orders from SAP through OTM and into to PKMS for processing including delivery creation and shipment planning. Communicate with DC Operations and Transportation team on capacity needs and concerns Daily interaction with internal and external customer service teams as well as drivers Enter customer order information and routing into various third party websites. Maintenance and analysis of daily, weekly, monthly reports. Proactively identify and resolve issues that may hinder operations or invoicing to meet company targets. Assist with the day-to-day management and operation of all transportation functions to ensure timely, high level of customer service in a high growth environment Have a strong working knowledge of SAP, PKMS & OTM applications and overall transportation and distribution operations. Skills/Abilities Proficiency in SAP, OTM and WMS (PKMS) Good communicator who is energetic and a quick study. Strong analytical, conceptual and problem solving skills. Knowledge of transportation best practices and procedures Strong work ethic with a "can do" attitude. Proficient and comfortable with computer systems, ideally possessing experience with various retail or distribution computer systems. Able to identify and formulate solutions to problems. Able to work independently Attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to cross train and learn other transportation functions as assigned by management Qualifications High school diploma or GED 3-5 years in logistics inventory control role or equivalent analytical experience General knowledge of shipping, receiving and distribution center operation; understanding of transportation best practices and procedures preferred.
