The role of the Junior Data Analyst - Intern will be to act as an integral member of the Operations Data Team within Advanced Strategies (Global Hedge Fund of Funds) in the servicing of our internal and external partners and clients. This position will work very closely with internal teams such as TST, Research, Legal and Accounting as well as IFM to uncover data needs, to identify and resolve issues and present data in a client focused manner using various proprietary and third party systems.

We are looking for someone to join our team in January 2018 to work part-time during the school year and to continue throughout the summer full-time.

Responsibilities:

• Collect and analyze simple to complex data and perform constant validations against existing data/ reporting throughout, ensuring integrity of data and reporting.
• Participate in major project initiatives such as (Data Warehouse, QuantDB, and Client Portal) including scope analysis, design, testing, implementation, training and documentation.
• Proactively propose and develop recommendations or solutions to deal with technical issues and enhance efficiency as business needs change.
• Create and maintain standard operating procedures for responsibilities. Maintain record retention of all reporting and supporting data sources.
• Support senior analysts with creating dashboards, periodic and ad-hoc reports on key performance indicators for the executive committee to facilitate business planning and budgeting decisions.

Requirements:

• Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in relevant technical discipline, preferably in finance, accounting, math and/ or information management.
• Graduation between December 2018 and June 2020.
• Passionate about gathering, calculating, organizing and reporting various information and data, with attention to detail and a high level of accuracy, completeness and responsiveness.
• Excellent skills in leveraging Microsoft’s Office suite i.e. Excel, Word, Access.
• Basic knowledge of SQL queries and/or interest in learning SQL code for automation.
• Self-starter with a strong work ethic who works well in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Collaborate well with others to accomplish respective areas of responsibility and work well within a team environment.
