OVERALL PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVE OF POSITION

This position is responsible for unloading grain and grain by-products in addition to performing regular cleaning tasks required to maintain a grain elevator facility. This physically active role requires working outdoors in various weather conditions, working at heights, and working with various types of equipment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Opening gates and doors on grain trucks via large hand tools
• Maintaining grounds / yard maintenance
• Cleaning seed tank
• Using brooms, shovels, hammers, sledge hammers & lifting/carrying heavy buckets
• Maintaining a clean and safe work environment and facility which includes a lot sweeping and blowing down with compressed air
• Must wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (provided by the site)
• Assist in all areas of the facility as needed.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Requires frequent extensions of regular working hours, including nights and weekends

• Requires walking/working outdoors, alternating between climate controlled areas and areas with varying temperatures and in various weather and other atmospheric conditions such as dust and noise.

The following are the basic qualifications:

• Knowledgeable and experienced in the use of hand tools, power tools, chain falls, com-a-longs, grinders, drill presses, table saws, etc…
• Must have ability to work from ladders and scaffolds at heights above 6’
• Be able to lift and carry a minimum of 75 lbs.
• Must be able to work in dusty conditions
• Must be able to work frequently in inclement weather
• Must be aware and attentive to surroundings which may include automatic starting conveyors belts, rail cars and other moving machinery
• Must be able to climb, bend, kneel, squat, and crawl occasionally and stand and walk frequently
