In these challenging economic times, our clients are relying on us more than ever.  PMA provides financial and investment advisory services to over 3400 public sector clients throughout the U.S.  Our Systems Development team is looking for an experienced User Interface developer.  You’ll get the chance to learn from and work with some of the smartest IT talent in the business.  Our goal is to reimagine and develop PMA 3.0, our next generation proprietary financial operations platform.  With over $28 billion in assets under administration, this work is critical to helping so many children, college students and community members not just survive this pandemic, but thrive.

Essential Functions

Responsibilities include:

• Work with UI colleagues to develop and maintain PMA’s internal and external web applications.
• Solicit input from end-users for UI design and development tasks.
• Build reusable code and libraries for future use.
• Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs.
• Optimize speed and scalability of applications.
• Validate end-user input before submitting to back-end services.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree one or more of the following: Information Systems/Management, Operations Management/Research, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or related field (or commensurate professional experience). 2-4 years of professional work experience is preferred.

Knowledge/Skills and Abilities Required

Technical Skills:

• JavaScript (with an emphasis on ES6), JavaScript framework (Angular/Vue/React);
• Node with at least one web framework (Hapi/Express/Koa)
• Web Sockets for real time support
• Front-end build tools, such as Webpack and Babel
• HTML5 and CSS3
• REST APIs
• Code versioning tools
• Ability to learn and evaluate new technologies

Interpersonal:

• Ability to take initiative
• Attention to detail
• Ability to prioritize work with many conflicting deadlines.
• Ability to work well under pressure. 
• Ability to collaborate and problem solve with both technology and business team members

Communication:

• Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to explain difficult technical concepts in an easy to understand manner
