Technology Program Management jobs are accountable for successful delivery of Technology projects and ensuring benefits realisation. Program outputs may form part of a technology-based change programme, delivery of a technology-only Programme, or may be standalone.
The scope of projects may be global and may span multiple HSBC business areas. This particular role will oversee and support ISO20022 Global Program. ISO 20022 is a flexible standard for financial messages that enables interoperability between financial institutions, market infrastructures and end users. Its flexibility and neutral syntax means that is has the potential to:
Provide value added services to corporate and SME customers by allowing enriched data to be sent with the message
Reduce cost and complexity of operations when applied across markets
Create consistent message standards across all business processes of the industry using extensible Mark up Language (XML) syntax to be used by Finance industry as an agreed methodology
The Program Management role will hold most or all of these responsibilities:
Managing the Program approach, building stakeholder buy-in around the Program plan, commitments and changes
Supporting Technology teams to manage delivery proactively, balancing scope, schedule, resourcing, dependencies, communications, budget
Working with the Technology team and Product Owner to drive improvements in productivity through backlog management, maturity in the use of Agile methodologies (e.g. Scrum, Kanban, Lean), and corresponding management of dependencies
Providing management to maintain a focus on how the Program aligns to wider programme objectives, where appropriate, and to the change portfolio across HSBC
Managing, monitoring and reporting progress, issues, dependencies and risks to the programme management, internal stakeholders and/or steering committees. Also, making recommendations to influence decision-making in order to maintain progress towards delivery and benefits realisation
Enforcing process discipline and improvements in areas of expertise, such as disciplined agile software delivery, production support processes and continuous DevOps pipelines development
Helping with the development and running of the programme management office or Program management practice
Ensuring adherence to standard controls and driving teams to achieve compliance and framework, capability management, Security controls and technology architecture designs
Establishing effective governance and controls, in line with Business Transformation Framework, and co-ordinating cross DevOps and cross Global Business/Global Functions delivery
Requirements:
Proven prior experience in managing financial portfolios
Proven prior experience working independently
Proven experience in working with matrix reporting teams across multiple time zones, and is willing and able to support out of core hours meetings
Proven experience in driving programs through Agile and scrum methods
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, financial proficiency and expert attention to details with respect to numbers produced
Experienced in tools such as GPDM, Clarity, HIBS, MS Office, Advanced Excel skills, JIRA, Confluence, Sharepoint and Teams
Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders within IT, Global Businesses, Finance
Work closely with their respective Portfolio Manager, the Global ITID PPM Practice team and their senior stakeholders to ensure alignment of their project/programme with the wider change portfolio and group strategy, values and behaviour
Provide board level overview of progress, lead and direct multidisciplinary teams across all global businesses, global functions and regions
Lead end to end execution and responsibility for all aspects of the project/programme, including definition, planning, execution & implementation, governance & control, financial, resource and change management.
Provide financial analysis, including being able to contextualise financial data into business activities and conclusions
Ensure the adherence to financial processes and procedures at project/programme level, as set and communicated by HSBC Group, regulators and ITID PPM Practice.
Own the the identification and escalation of any budgetary related risks, issues and opportunities to portfolio/function as appropriate.
Have responsibility for effective handover of the project/programme into Business as Usual operations to support effective benefits realisation.
Have responsibility for deploying the Business Transformation Frameworks and respective methodologies within their Programme/Project and instilling good programme/project disciplines within their project and wider team.
