We are seeking a dynamic, self-starting candidate to join HBSC’s US Public Affairs team as the Government Relations Associate. The US Public Affairs team is the liaison between HSBC North America and policymakers in the US government. The team engages with government officials to advocate for public policies that impact the bank and the financial services industry.
Here’s what you can expect:
As our Government Relations Associate you will manage multiple projects simultaneously, be effective at managing a demanding calendar of the principal executive in the Public Affairs office and have a demonstrated interest in the banking and financial services industry as well as in public policy. Other attributes include the ability to operate in and navigate a corporate setting and manage complex administrative requirements. Business coverage will include but not limited to: tracking legislation and regulations, monitoring relevant news and political developments that affect the organization, partnering with Public Affairs team members to create external and internal materials to effectively communicate with stakeholders; conducting policy and legislative research and preparing policy briefs, talking points, and executive briefings, organizing schedules, maintaining diaries, arranging travel and accommodations; coordinating activities, events, resources, meetings, services and managing internal and external stakeholders; assisting with budgeting, invoicing, and other internal requirements; supporting administration, composing presentations, drafting reports and assisting with key documents; and, managing external relationships and service providers.
For this role, HSBC targets a fixed pay range between $83,700 and $125,500.
The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.

You’ll of course have excellent negotiation and drafting skills and will have demonstrated the ability to take initiative and apply good commercial and legal judgment
