    UNDERWRITER/ADMINISTRATIVE LOAN OFFICER

    Reviews and analyzes loan applications and renders credit decisions based on member’s credit worthiness and compliance with investor and regulatory guidelines. Accurately and efficiently processes credit decisions to ensure member satisfaction. Utilizes all available resources to provide the best solution to ultimately enrich the member experience.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    Underwrites mortgage loan applications and appraisals (i.e. Conventional, FHA/VA, construction/perm, land/acreage, condominium, manufactured housing, jumbo, USDA, and HELOC) in accordance with policies/procedures and investor (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, etc.) and regulatory guidelines.

    Renders sound lending decisions; analyzes applications for credit worthiness, determines appropriateness of collateral value by reviewing appropriate tax assessments, appraisals, etc., and reviews for loan completeness and accuracy.

    Exercises Loan Officer Authority, including but not limited to; appeals, deferrals, extensions, counteroffers and open end lines of credit.

    Conducts loss mitigation duties by reviewing and approving loan workout options for members.

    Monitors developing trends and changes in the secondary market and mortgage industries and makes recommendations to management.

    Assists with consumer and real estate lending training to assist with concerns/questions regarding lending policies, procedures, regulations and secondary market requirements.

    Works with other Underwriter/Administrative Loan Officers to assist in the development of training classes for Underwriting Staff and Mortgage Production Department employees, to establish best practice procedures.

    Required Experience

    EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

    Bachelor’s degree in related field or combination of education and experience.

    Minimum of four years mortgage lending experience required with a minimum of 3 years secondary market mortgage underwriting experience required to include VA, USDA and Fannie Mae. 

    VA SAR Certification required or obtained within the first 6 months of employment.

    FHA Direct Endorsement (DE) designation preferred.
